Why people hating on Chris? It’s crazy, he’s not going to win any awards, but he’s still really good. Also, do people think he just straight up lied about wanting to be in the movie? He just has a certain cadence to his speech. He wasn’t being in-genuine.
I think the fact that no one has a problem with Charlie Day as Luigi kind of just tells you people dont like Pratt. That being said, I totally get the critique as a little italian inflection would be nice. That being said, Nintendo wanted what they wanted and this movie isnt for mario fanatics, but more so to make 'NORMIES!' mario fans lol

I honestly am excited as heck for the movie. The trailers made my heart skip a beat. So hyped! But! But but! Chris Pratt. No. I get he has star power but it would have been great to get an actual voice actor to do the stereotypical Mario voice. Now Mario is just an American plumber stuck in a fever dream.

Wow! Very interesting take on Chris Pratt! I like Chris Pratt on the Lego Movie. I’m cautiously optimistic about this take on Mario because he’s gonna be a plumber. I also like the other characters. Jack Black is gonna nail it as Bowser lol. But I hope this movie is gonna be good. It probably won’t win an award because usually those are at the end of the year. But I like this. Oh and instead the fanboys arguing with me, they should give me proof that Peach did something herself in the main games, not what she did in the spin offs or sports games
One more thing i will say is that Peach's voice actor does not act or sound like Peach and yet no one is hating on her, since this Peach will be fighting back instead of doing nothing like in the main mario games where she just waits for Mario to Rescue her and is Wood Hawker/BeatEmUps said most of them had only use their own voice and being themselves instead of being the character
As someone who just recently sent off a autograph request to Charles martinet, I can completely understand your frustration and anger with the peculiar choice of casting Chris Pratt as the voice of Mario
well peach looks really good. Overall movie looks better than expected but yeah I dont think it will end up being something special at all. don't super trust illumination for any unique humor, and yeah chris prat just doesnt feel like mario.

Mario wasn't even supposed to be Italian though. Charles Martinet just randomly did a stereotypical Italian accent and it stuck for some weird reason. I never liked Marios voice lines, they are pretty cringe if you actually take the nostalgia glasses off.

I love Charlie Day Luigi, I knew for a fact that he was gonna be great and thank goodness, he was just as good as I expected.
It's so bad that the iconic Mario is going to be completely butchered and probobly ruin the trust in Nintendo's casting abilities for a good number of older viewers. They just need to pull their heads out of their asses and use Charles Martinet for Mario. That said, Peach looks great, and I love how in the background Cranky is just so casual about seeing shit go down, like he's old he's seen this a million times, it ain't gonna phase him. And of course, it's always gonna be guarunteed that Jack Black will consistantly nail Bowser. In short… They should just call it the Bowser Movie, because Chris Pratt is gonna make Mario the most un-interesting protagonist in Nintendo history.
Let's put it into the following perspective…
Even if it IS just a generic animated movie that happens to have Mario Characters in it…
It'll STILL be better than the movie of which we shall not speak… Will it not? 😉

Mario is a regular plumber from Brooklyn. You can't really expect him to be this epic parkour hero who's good at dodging bullets and fireballs. That part of the trailer is him training on a fake Mario Maker style level. Can you imagine a regular working man being placed in a real life platforming game and actually doing good? It would be weird if he was doing speedruns on his first try xD

I reckon this movie will be quite good. Nintendo has been trying to expand and diversify its entertainment offerings beyond games since the end of the Wii U era. A bad movie like the 1993 effort could sink that ambition for a long time to come. A lot of effort will be made to set up a Nintendo movie universe that could rake in hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars the way the Marvel Universe has.
Some of the slapstick is good but the Toad “were adorable” made me cringe. EVERYTHING else looks great
I wish they'd have made mario mute, like he is in the mario rpg series. or just short spoken like "let's a go" or "okay"

I truly believe that this, and ONLY this, will be your legacy. And there’s nothing more to discuss about it.
I would like to point out that this is an origin story for Mario. It follows the original origin of the Mario Bros. where they land in another world, the Mushroom Kingdom from their own. Mario's incompetence is a story thing. It makes sense he wouldn't be this epic hero yet who's naturally good at obstacle courses while Peach would be the kick ass girl. I imagine by the end, Mario and Luigi will have to save Peach from Bowser.
