Also the Pixel Hammer sign for the Antique looks like the sprite of the DK hammer from the Arcade but with modern colors.
In the antique shop that isn't a green key. It's the gold key from Mario Bros 2. Those are the keys that when you pick them up you get chased by the masks that fly in from out of the screen.

Being a video game enthusiast, I will absolutely watch this movie!
The "bank" looks more like a supplies shop as there's a pickaxe sticking out of the bag on the sign
The wooden sign also looks like it could just be the classic end flagpole, but on its side rather than the Zapper or the negative space of the steps at the end of the level
The colorful supports from 3d mario games, I always thought were more referential of colorful semi-solids, specifically from games like Super Mario Bros. 3 as they are just as colorful, but semi solids couldn't exist in a 3d space like how they're displayed in game
I honestly can't believe this is Illumination animating this because it looks nothing like what they've produced in the past. It looks like something that you'd see Nintendo themselves do for a new game which is awesome. Hopefully the movie itself is good too.

I like the new toad models. Their torsos are more human shaped rather than looking like a pear. I also really like their over exaggerated dimples on their face. You can notice that their pants are more 3d, and give more of a shape rather than looking like tighty whightys
