Not a big fan of Anya as Peach (honestly she really doesn’t fit to me at all along with them basically giving her Daisy’s personality), (Daisy would of fit both those so much better), but design wise she looks beautiful! 🙂 But being a huge Peach fan those two things kinda disappointed me… But everyone else and everything fits… 🙂
I can't believe people are overreacting about Pratt's performance even though Peach's voice (and personnality) are even worse than Mario's ! Seriously why is she out there using a big ass halberd even though we know she uses magic ? I would've understood a staff or even a sword since it's what royalty like to use as symbol (see Zelda in Twilight Princess) but this ?… And let's not talk about the outfit.
Plus why is she having such a sassy attitude even though she's supposed to be kind, supportive and cheerful ! We're here for a Peach not a Daisy ! If they want to make her into a less passive character it's fine but the thing is it's been the case for the last decade or two at least (Mario Bros 2, Super Princess Peach, some of the RPGs, Mario 3D world). Plus while I agree that she's the one who should introduce Mario to the new world he's been apparently thrown in (like the scene in the trailer where they're in the fire flower field) I object to her being the one who should train him. This role suits Toad way better than her ! That reaction Peach had at 1:50 is fitting with the kind of character Toad (this specific one at least) is.
I really feel like, once again, they want to please the Western audience with that "strong confident women" again… And, look, it's cool and all but why can't people see that a female character can be like Peach from the game but still be strong (mentally I mean) and be a great leader of a kingdom, unit or group whatever. It's the exemple I use the most, there's a ton of it, but if you actually tell me Yuna is a weak girl (even in term of power) or someone who makes a bad leader you're out of the debate. I'm talking about Yuna in FFX not FFX2… don't be mad FFX2 fans I love that game and I think that the change was logical and cool but I'm talking specifically about the way she was strong in FFX. Let's not even talk about supporting strong female characters because the examples are numerous who aren't necessary femmes fatales, tomboys or sassy girls.
I still want to see the movie of course because everything else (including Mario's voice) is cool but I'm baffled to see how people aren't nearly as mad about how Peach is portrayed. And it's not Taylor Joy's fault I think because I'm sure she can make a really accurate Peach voice but she's just doing the kind of voice requested to go along that weird change in Peach's character. Anyway what are you gonna do… Whether it's video games or movies people are what they are as usual.

I think it’s gonna be a fun solid movie. Jack Black just stood out the most in terms of voice performances. But everything else seems promising for what you expect for a Mario Movie. I’ve never been a fan of familiar celebrity voice performances. That is annoying to me when your meant to have diverse range playing a character. The point of being hyped for voice talents is to not recognize who they are playing to show there talents.
I feel like Charlie Day works as Luigi even though it's just him being Charlie more or less, because Charlie is kind of a real life cartoon character. I think Chris Pratt sounded pretty animated as Emmet in The Lego Movie, but he seem kind of, I dunno. Flat I guess so far. He needs to pop more, or something.
A higher pitch peach voice would be super annoying for a whole movie. I love what they did with her

Try to think about it like this…
If ALL the original characters had high pitched voices, the moments where his iconic phrases happen wouldn’t make sense.
The wahoo at the end was perfect.

Charlie day is literally made to play luigi, he sounds perfect, probably as good as Jack black
My first Mario game was SMB 3 in February 1990. It was 10 months before my 4th birthday. Since then I've become a Luigi cosplayer and even met Charles at a con. And during the Pandemic, I played through and beat the 5 games on the cartridge I have of All Stars Plus World (it was my first time beating 2 USA). Watching this trailer made me feel like I did playing those classic games all those years ago. I'm DEFINITELY going to be Luigi when I go see this
Chris Pratt is pretty much a different approach for the plumber, but I think his take is decent, not bad.
A lot of the voice acting in this movie gets better when you treat it as its own thing separate from the games, kinda like the old cartoons. They had their own completely different voices that still fit well for those versions of the characters. Think of the movie as the same kind of thing: a new version of the Mario universe with its own unique designs, and voices that fit those designs.
That being said, this movie looks phenomenal. The animation looks stunning, the lighting is beautiful, the character designs are on point, the music so far is amazing, and most of the voice actors are doing a pretty good job for these characters. I'm definitely gonna see it as soon as I can.

Mario's Italian, and Chris Pratt isn't even trying to do an accent. At least in the old live action movie they got Italian American actors to play Mario and Luigi. The New York accents still kind of fit, like they were second or third generation immigrants.
I used to pray for a mario film like this when I was a kid and I'm still as excited as I am now at 20 as I would have been back than 😂
Mario is really from brooklyn, like an Italian who grew up in Brooklyn, and from the looks of the posters they released recently they're going to be from Brooklyn like the OG Mario, which is why I don't really mind the voice for Mario

Watching the movie for anya and anya ONLY
Honestly I was the same about Chris Pratt's voice from the first trailer, but after watching this new 2nd trailer it's starting to grow on me and so far I think the voices for the other characters are good overall
I guess a simple way of looking at it is that this is a movie and is not going to be the same voices or sound the same like in the games….obviously lol
But so far with these 2 trailers I am definitely excited to see this and not gonna let a few character voices deter me from what could be a really cool funny movie 🙂

Anya-Taylor joy is really killing it in Hollywood and for good reason. She’s a super talented actress. At the same time it still seems like direction for the voice acting seems like they wanted the actors to use their natural voices (with a few exceptions). I’m also not super confident in the writing. But the visual aesthetic looks good and I think the characters personalities seem to be coming through. I can’t tell which movie I’m more curious to find out if it will be good, this one or the new Avatar movie lol.

Look all I'm saying is Chris Pratt's Mario's voice isn't really bad though hell he did the Mario Yahoo or whatever he does at the end just like him, and besides I didn't see people complained about how difficult Sonic was from the games and show. I'll definitely be seeing this movie in theaters 😁
