I know these videos came out quite some time ago, but they're really helping me with my intro to philosophy class that I'm taking in college! Needed to find philosophers discussing truth and "alternative facts" and this gave me a great starting point. I appreciate crash course so much!
i love what your media company is doing and i see the underlying message. and im interested in learning more about it and how i might help in a meaningful way
cough Boeing cought
Great video! I have a Phd in philosophy, but I still learned quite a bit from it. I hadn't heard of James triple classification.
Am i the only one who noticed harry potter
“God comments” were all turned off, so I need to put this here: I would love to see a video on the discussion of the origin of the God concept. If we are going to see a video on arguments about the existence of God, why no talk of the origin/history of the concept?
A conspiracy theory is a belief that’s held without proof? Misinformation right there!!
ahh back when antivax parents used to be a meme now it’s a core policy issue 😂
You come highly recommended at my former college.
I seldom comment on these videos. I realize that I am the only one in the world who values my opinion. So if you disagree with what I'm about to say that is fine with me. I really do not care what other people think because I know they don't care what I think. So, without further Ado, I really don't care what happens to this world or in this world or to me or to my loved ones or to my friends. I wasn't consulted before I was placed on this Earth so I view it as nothing more than a very pretty Prison from which I will leave someday when I die.
I'm playing a DANGEROUS game with "the algorithm" bu clicking on a video with "conspiracy theory" in it's title… but here goes… looks like I'm going to be clicking on "do not recommend channel" for many weeks to come.
name calling is a logical fallacy
My only problem is I fundamentally don't believe any choice is trivial
Wow, the comment section is calmer than expected 😅
I know I'm late to the game (by 6 years), but I find it funny and sad that Hank had to finally disable the comments section on the last 5 philosophy videos (ya know, the ones about religion)… I'll never be around to find out what was said to force his hand, but I can't say I'm surprised.
Regardless, thank you CrashCourse for making these short, informative videos! They are great springboards for further investigations!
I see James point but here's the problem
Christian Science believes going to the doctor for any reason(even if your dying from a curable condition) is wrong
Is it moral to let a child die because you believe with no evidence that God doesn't approve of doctors ?
Silly Clifford assuming there's insufficient belief in God really hasn't made an effort to find sufficient evidence in God
I have absolutely no faith. Belief without proof seems harmful in and of itself.
Why do the words "it's hard to be humble when you're perfect in every way" keep popping up in my mind when watching this video?
You should make a video about fallacy. Maybe straw man arguments and adhomin, oh wait, you just did.
covid lol
I’m putting this video on hold for the time being! The narrator is TOO MUCH of a speed talker!!!
Conspiracy theorists only agree with people who agree with them!
Take note, we can come up with great moral directions only to have religious thought bring up its far to often special pleading and through it all away.
Thank you
i just want to take a moment and appreciate harry potter in the last bench writing his pop quiz
I like your videos and courses. But it's incredible how biased towards agnosticism or atheism they are. I don't mean anyone to believe, but at least to be informed of the arguments that hold towards the existence of God as it seems you haven't done it. For example, with Tomas Aquinas, you standed that the five ways for the existence of God did not conclude into a personal loving being. And obviously, these arguments didn't pretend it for they were pointed towards the EXISTENCE of God, not towards his attributes. These five ways are only the first page of a 3020 book named Summa Theologiae, in which he develops furthermore. And that's only one example of what I've seen through your videos.
What I actually think is unfair from you is to compare any religious belief with anti vaccines. For your information some of the greatest scientists were believers, Einsten, Mendel (who was a monk), Darwin, Descartes, Pascal, and a long etc. And through your video you are comparing such incredible minds to anti vaxxers. I actually think this is a good reason to qualify your position as unfair.
For you to so easily discount anti-vaxxers, you aren't basing your opinion on all the evidence. Sometimes it comes down to deciding who to believe.
The assumption at 8:32 is false, James wouldn't necessarily support anti-vax because this is an option that CAN be decided upon intellectual grounds. James only believes our "passional" nature should guide actions when our intellect can't. (the existence of God for example) Yes, the option is live, forced, and momentous, but that doesn't mean it would justify the belief.
Dude bought insurance for his boat. Sounds like he acted on the real understanding that the boat may not be seaworthy.
No such thing as a private belief.. whoa. Supporting authoritarianism omg.
5:14 I see the snuck in harry potter 👀
Very good video but I wish there were some direct sources in the description of the video :/
So this was made six years ago and it's more relevant than ever.
Popular hysterias are all the rage these days.
If the fries or burger give the person food poisoning before a big interview causing the job to be given to someone else, would that not had been a life altering life decision? Here all day baby keep em coming lol
Pop quiz logic debunked. "It cant be on Friday because the whole week has gone by with no quiz" so when the teacher pulls out the test said student is surprised because of the flaw in thier logic.
Some believes with evidence and some are without evidence
If the kids are vaccinated why are they in danger of infection?
