At the start of a campaign, just choose the characters available and those are the ONLY available for the duration of the campaign, no substituting midcampaign. At least keeps the rescue missions important.

This game is heavy and intense enough to be satisfying, and short enough to easily finish in an hour. I only wish there would be more weapons options, or at least more pulse rifles–my aliens still do not have tails😄. Excellent review–you really make me want to play it again!

The tails were tricky but I didn’t think the tails were that hard to put on.
I rotated the model so the freshly glued tails stood upwards and carefully hand balanced the model until the glue set enough to place it on the table without the tail falling off immediately. Usually three minutes or so.
Once it set enough to be put on the table, I braced the freshly glued tails tails from sinking by placing an object under it until the glue firmly set. A few hours just to be sure.
I did this for four aliens at a time … and did 8 a day over two days.
I think anyone with miniature model assembly experience would be totally fine with this, but I could see the casual board gamer being freaked out about this requirement to play the game.

I found the whole concept of the endurance cards the differences between recycling, discarding, exhausting, equipping, player hands, events and hazards really hard to come to terms with. It certainly isn't intuitive and I think the rule book needed a walk through.

Well, that took a dark and sad turn in the end.
I'm glad to see someone else recognize the absolute nightmare those tails were! I stopped part way through assembling minis and didn't come back to it for almost a month because I couldn't bring myself to work with those tails again. Mini assembly is the true horror in this game.

Beautiful review, absolutely loved the aliens film as a kid and I would too would have loved this to have been around. Need i just need a copy of the game… and some friends
If I were to suggest a few things for future additions to the game,
1) A character organizer tray like the ones in Zombicide Black Plague, maybe have one for the endurance, discard, exhaust cards as well.
2) More cards so that you could customise your endurance deck.
3) More scenarios, like what if company believed Ripley and sent the team to the colony before events in the movie? Rescue as much survivors?
Or have a solo play with only Newt, stealth missions on how she actually survived going into tunnels?

Funny story about Burke I never intended him to be playable in the game, instead his role was going to be solely handled by hazzard cards. But I was convinced to add him and man he turns out to be an okay guy. He is one of my favorite characters to play now.
so If I own Ultimates Badasses expansion (Which I have) do I still just play 6 characters that I choose from with original and can mix in with Ultimate badasses characters? I assume we can only play up to 6 since that is the amount of aim dial there are. ????

The trickiness with attaching the tails to the Aliens minis truly is a pain in the arse. Also we are supposed to insert the nub of the tail into a shallow hole in the backside of each alien, which gives this a more literal implication. Great review, and nice channel name! At least Aliens can be played solo, or you could work on painting all those figs up for when the lockdown ends.
