The fact is that in the far far future we might be the civilization every other one is stayimg away from is so "heck yeah"
There’s an estimated 10^25 planets in the universe. We aren’t the only people living in it.
10^21 could be friendly as all heck. The remaining ones could destroy you on sight. As humans, you KNOW we will reside with the minority and shoot first, ask questions later. Until we advance to time-lord levels of tech and can travel the universe puffing out our chests, we will have to leave this planet knowing before hand, we’re going to be HARD nerfed in this new environment. On Earth, we’re the apex predators. In space, we could very well be a field mouse.
Maybe our fire is too small.
We need to stop waving our hands in the cosmos before we get hit with a duel vector foil
"The best way to find out if the torch you lit in the forest is a bad idea or not, is to light a bigger torch and search deeper."
I just think the human body plan is so rare in the universe that the vast majority of aliens are non technological. We only got where we are because we developed opposable thumbs and lost the need for claws. That's a huge deal especially when we consider that it took multiple random events and ecological resets to get here. My theory is nothing more than physiological rarity.
a civilization that still depends on the exploitation of other people and has a class system, is simply doomed to extinction, look at humanity, capitalism is a system of infinite profit on a planet with finite resources and is still divided into classes that work and the rich who do nothing and only accumulate, a society like this will extinguish itself. however, a truly cooperative society will develop and in this case it has no reason to attack another planet, it will do the opposite, help, or even not intervene.
By the time you figured out that you should not communicate it would be too late, this theory lacks basic logic. 😮
Paraphrased quote from a Pawnee warrior before killing a lone traveler from the movie Dances with Wolves…..only a white man would be so careless as to make a fire for all to see.
Yeah.. well it's highly unlikely that we are going to encounter/engage/interact with any other life-form or alien civilization given our solar system is travelling thousands of kilometres per second and any entity that perceives light the same way we do if they are millions of years away they will only see earth from millions of years ago as it took that old light that long to travel to reach that distance.
So if an alien is 65 million light years away. They will only see earth as it was 65 million years ago. And even if they decide to visit this specific planet that is our earth. By the time they get here, we would have been long extinct and different forms of life would have taken over Earth at that time. Just as it has happened before in Earths history. Millions of years ago.
Life is short. Don't over think it, don't stress, don't panic. Life is short.
"The days are long but the years are short." Enjoy it and spend your precious time with the people who matter most to you. Try to enjoy life and make the most of it.
I wish I had some Intergalactic friends
The problem is, humans are probably the species with bad intentions
Our earliest radio transmissions are only a little over a hundred light years away- that's next to nothing compared to the size of our galaxy, so I would say we haven't really tried to communicate yet (even if we think we have)
They’re probably hiding from us 😅
It’s too late. We have been broadcasting for almost a hundred years.
