Yeah AVP Requiem… sadly its s waste of 2 cool characters – The "WOLF" – possibly one of the best Predators ever on screen and "Chet" Pred-alien. Take away both characters and it is rubbish, plenty of grisly killings which I like and the Hospital scenes were the highlight.

At least you got an ok film as your first. Requiem was my first for both in the cinema.
Had a cool uncle that showed me both series from a far too young an ages and was devastated I was just too young to go see the first AVP on the big screen and then subjected to the horrible sequel.
If you think about it and can make anything out in the darkness it's actually the greatest horror film ever made….cause it's horrific to watch

I love your content, man! As a life-long fan of this franchise, I absolutely love seeing someone get as much joy (if not more) out of the franchise as I do.
Your ranking is thoughtful and great, and I mostly fall in line with it. With just one small caveat… I think objectively, you're spot on but subjectively (for me), I reserve a special place in hell for Alien Covenant. Alien Covenant is easily ranked 7 (now 8 with Romulus, which I'd place at 4 behind Alien 3), and only because putting it behind AvP Requiem is not possible as a practical matter.
I hate Alien Covenant… And, I'm a little sickened every time I hear anyone praise Michael Fassbender or suggest that he's some kind of saving-grace for the movie. As a professional (actor) you have a responsibility to protect and preserve the integrity of the franchise you're participating in, and to participate in its total disgrace is unforgivable. This, so much so, that Alien Covenant single-handedly made me despise Fassbender and write off every other film he's participated in.
Just about the only thing I can agree on is that it's visually pleasing but that just ends up being all the more frustrating because that care and effort could have been better spent in a better movie.
But beyond that… This movie is garbage. The characters are garbage. The story is implausible and unbelievable garbage. The low-effort tropes strewn about the film are lazy and cliche, and it just seems this movie was targeted toward the lowest common denominator of a society with no intellect or attention span. This movie sucks. This movie is sad and embarrassing and made me feel awkward in the presence of those I watched it with. This movie is a loud thud in the fall from such a high grace that is Ridley Scott's now tarnished legacy. It's shameful and it's one of the two movies in this franchise that I genuinely wish didn't exist. It makes me angry. The world would be a better place without Alien Covenant.

I agree, I think the main reason I also consider Alien the best is because it's the most heavily influenced by H.R. Giger's visual design, which really complimented the already dark tone of the film. And it's probably the only one where I genuinely cared about the fate of the entire crew instead of just a few select characters. I will admit that Aliens is the funnest to watch though. The main characters from that one are the most recognizable and had more memorable individual performances.

Alien is incredible. It's the king. I loved Aliens as a kid and I saw it first. I was a little let down by Alien when I subsequently watched it, but I was still a kid. Once I grew up, though, I was able to appreciate Alien more. It's practically perfect and something happened there that is hard to explain. Giger, O'Bannon and Scott channeled something that has been brewing in the collective unconscious for thousands of years.
In my honest opinion I find Alien Resurrection, Alien vs Predator, Prometheus and Alien Romulus to all be much better movies than Alien 3.

For me, the franchise died with 3. Ripley was the anchor for the audience but resurrection destroyed her character, then it was just over. The prequels were awful because Ridley Scott felt the need (god knows why) to explain every tiny detail that only served to destroy the mystique of the alien, which in itself it what made it so terrifying. I dread to think what he'll do with the Blade Runner TV show, being as he's been vocal on how insanely jealous he was over the 2049 sequel. He's just a sad man now, & he needs to stop meddling & messing up his own lore

Nice ranking, would you ever consider ranking the 20th Century Fox Alien Anthology shorts they released for the 40th anniversary? All 6 are only around 10 mins each so it would be cool to see which ones you felt captured that Alien magic vs which ones you think fell short.
Alien was a horror movie while Aliens was more action oriented.. With horror elements.
Which one is the best remains subjective. Personally I prefer Aliens. James Cameron knows how to make sequels!
I am 4 years late here, but I totally agree with your list. I do LOVE Alien 3 when so many people think it’s trash. Matter of fact I watched a “rating all the alien movies and he rated Resurrection a 6 and 3 was rated a 3 and I nearly got irate about it. Everyone have their opinions, but that guys was dog shit. lol
If people are interested they should check out the Corman produced Alien rip-offs Galaxy of Terror (with pre-fame James Cameron doing effects/sets) and Forbidden World. Both are better than any of post-Aliens sequels. In fact, how about a video on that subject–early 80s Alien rip offs! There were a lot–above mentioned, Scared to Death, Creature, Alien Contamination, etc.
