Love the tie
I love Atlantis Rising (2nd edition), one of the best co-op
I wanted to like Everdell but first few playthroughs with the localized edition really suffered by the mistranslations and terminology typos, which in the end spoiled the fun from it.
Everdell is a game that I love more and more every time I played it.
I don’t get the Amish look. Only Americans have beards without moustaches. It’s so odd.
I really value your ratings, so please keep sharing them. Maybe consider putting them up on the screen? Thanks!
The common factor with all of these games? Gorgeous table presence. All of them.
hadara is 7 wonders streamlined. Much better game with a very similar feeling
I see Metroplex in the background!
Did I miss the rating for Everdell?
Not since Texas Chainsaw Massacre has a title spoiled the content to this extent
I agree with your Everdell review, that is a very good game but I think some of the card elements keep it from being higher.
In my last game of Everdell, I was still in winter when my friends were in summer (one just entered, the other almost to autumn). I had so much luck in that game and kept finding things to do, even with so few workers.
Detective: City of Angels might have been my favorite game last year. I understand why people might compare it to Chronicles of Crime, but they are very different games with vastly different gameplay. And as Tom said, Chronicles of Crime is played purely cooperatively, and while Detective can be played cooperative, its intended (and best) mode is competitive.
really want empires of the north, hope it goes down in price soon.
Nice tie!! 🙂
Hey Tom, I really enjoy when you mention your family and how well a game fits in with you all. It's not a point I hear mentioned a whole lot and I would love to hear it mentioned more often.
Sold Empires after one playthrough.
Hadara is such a great, quick drafting game!
sounds like you played a lot with Zee lately (Silver and Gold, Everdell, etc). Liked this format as it's better for comparison of good games.
Sir… Your dressing style covers like 4 decades! Way to never get out of date.
Wow! Really liked this format! Do this to the games you have for Miami Dice too. Sometimes you just want a quick review and a grade… love it. I’m gonna check out Hadara because of this. I thank you… my wife do not! 😝😂😅🤗
Great review format!
I thought Tom's tie was Dice Masters, but then realized it was Periodic Elements. Now I want a Dice Masters tie.
I had similar thoughts after my first couple plays of Everdell. But the more I play it the more its strategies reveal themselves. I think the theme works well for it, where it starts slow as you come out of winter, scavenging for every little bit you can get and by the end of a successful harvest at the end of fall your only limit tends to be how well you planned the earlier rounds.
Tome needs to do series or list of games he rates 10 out of 10.
Interesting to see EotN rating better than Everdell given how popular it is on bgg. How do they compare? Which one does engine building better?
I really think empires of the north is a boring game. Everything is practically scripted for you. Yeah you can change your beginning state but it always ends up the same no matter how you play.
I enjoyed this. It's great to come back to some games that other reviewers mentioned that have gotten solid reviews. The other video was interesting as well.
I this as a new series. Keep up the great work.
Great video.
Missing the BGG link to Hadara in the description
I won Detective as the Chisel. It was fantastic.
Any thoughts??…
Silver and gold VS cartographers??
Empires of the North VS Res Arcana??
the problem with imperial settlers empires of the north is that you're cycling through almost all the deck at every game, therefore each faction plays mostly the same every time.
also, some factions are criminally underpowered and the "higher difficulty" ones will always stomp on the lower ones with almost zero effort.
game is very enjoyable but these issues are very apparent after a couple of games. I personally enjoy the first game better because it's more unique (I mean, to play a faction card you often need to destroy another one you have in play: so many hard choices). it has its flaws too, but the game is different every time you play, as you don't cycle your deck quite as much
Hadara is just a better seven wonders.
I thought 8 negative reviews were bad, but after watching this i see the point of both.
Keep doing both. Please.
Love detective COA, one of my all time top 3
Great format!
