A lot of people end up talking about the difference between cat and dog intelligence in these comments. I've looked into it a lot, and my takeaway has actually been that there is more of a range in dogs. I don't think it's possible to speak to an average because most dog tests focus on the breeds already known to be the most intelligent. Just saying. And I think it's already essentially impossible to compare them. I've lived with and loved both. Among those known well, the cats were smarter, but, again, I think it varies a lot more in both directions in dogs because they're so much more genetically manipulated than cats. Seems unfair then to even attempt to compare!
