If she is still struggling with the (take it) command try saying (go on then) with a high pitch voice. It works better for my dogs.

So for take it you can rapid fire treats as you say “take it” and use only one free command so you pup doesn’t get confused . This is what I use with my service dog in training!

personally, i never want a dog. i had a lot as a kid, had my fair share. but as a horse trainer, just like with horses, dogs need to learn its VERY important to listen to commands from trusted and known humans in public even with distractions. even if your dog knows whatever it's being tought in school, getting and doing those commands in public is so so important!

As a retail petstore trainer (not sure if you said that’s where you took your classes but the curriculum is at least similar,) you’re doing great! I know you’ve done before but usually we teach leave it as a “never going to get it” behavior (good for things they’re never supposed to touch/chew on like a remote or shoes) and shouldn’t be paired with take it. Whereas wait is, “wait for the next command” so they can wait and then take.

I am pretty sure you have mentioned that Eleanor will learn agility. I think "Table" will be a good one for her to learn, since if I'm remembering right, the agility course you have put Shelby through at that great place you go to to practice agility has a table and they have to be on there for I think 5 seconds or something. Yeah. That will be fun for her to learn. She doesn't seem all that shy anymore, but she may still be unsure of new things.
My foster puppy also had to go through puppy class but we where taught that the leave it command means the dog can never have what the are asked to leave as leave represents something that is bad or can be poisonous. So we would use the wait command if we wanted the dog to wait before taking the treat.

I wish I could have had my dog in puppy class, I got him right in the middle of lock downs and wasn’t available for me. But nonetheless we are always working to improve and hopefully soon can have him in classes with other dogs after personal classes.
