It's remarkable that it's playable at all.
Now that we've seen a tiny bit of footage of the Switch 2 version, it looks like its going to be a decent 30fps port.
3:00 bro it sounds like it’s charging a limit break💀💀💀💀💀
For 2-3h battery life (depending on scene) I have done some extra optimization. It takes 10-20 minutes to do, but well worth it for a 100h+ game.
– Add the FSR mod on nexusmods. It makes the game look like actual 720p at 66% instead of 480p with TTAU at the same resolution scaling.
– Use FSR 2.1.3 as it has the least overhead compared to XESS or FSR3.1.2 – it might look look noisier than TTAU, but in reality it just has less blur and a faster temporal resolve.
– Install DeckyLoader and the plugin PowerTools, set the CPU to max 2500MHz (only 1.5-3W usage), this will give the GPU access to max performance when needed.
– (alternatively, force 1600MHz on the GPU in the normal "quick setting" to limit excess CPU usage, but it's less effective for battery life)
– Force 28fps(56Hz) in the quick settings, it almost feels like 30fps, but it gets rid of a lot of hitches and stutters. (reduce to 25fps in Kalm 😅)
– Set the in-game FPS to 120fps, 66% resolution scaling for minimum and maximum. This disables resolution scaling. It results in less background calculations, stable image quality and battery savings during low-intensity scenes.
For a game of 100h+ I think the optimization investment is worth it. Keep in mind, with the FSR mod, you have to map the keyboard "insert" key to be able to access the "optiscaler" settings… once there, choose FSR 2.1. Sure, you can fiddle around with XESS, FSR3.1.2 etc. but look at the millisecond graph at the bottom right. The performance overhead on XESS is crazy, and foliage seems to be broken on FSR 2.2 and FSR 3 causing pixelation during movement.
the super low resolution actually looks like super Nintendo. I probably wouldn't mind it lmaooo
How can Squarenix optimize FFVII Rebirth for the steam deck but not the PS4?
It crawls to a halt for me after playing for 10 mins requiring a hard reset
Oof. These graphics are Witcher 3 on switch level bad…
Ugh fml. Fine ill buy it again
I played game with less than 10fps during PS1 days and nintendo gameboy family computer days. 30 fps for me is like 60fps
I think the switch 2 versions will be better simply because of the lack of overhead with the OS, the native porting vs proton, also the API optimization. If rumors are true then the switch 2 version or Remake is almost the same as the ps5 version. So that gives me hope for rebirth being a great port too. But at the end of the day no matter how you enjoy the game, if you enjoy it, that’s all that matters.
And red dead redemption 2 is labeled as playable
Fans sounds like a jet ✈️
👀
Im having a lot more success using my Ally instead of my Deck if you have the option go with the Ally instead
Do you think they are preparing to get it optimized for the Switch 2?
I tried this on my steam deck. It looks way too blurry to enjoy.
Nah, this ain’t it. The steam deck just isn’t capable of running this. Game looks like trash.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That green check means its playable, it doesn't mean it's optimized.
Honestly, its not there yet. The popin is bad and the blurriness and frame drops in towns isn't good enough. Needs more work.
im just happy i didnt buy this bs handheld
The Last new game for the steam deck. Says goodbye to Doom dark ages
Can this game run at 10W TDP at 30 FPS? Or is it impossible… How about 12W?
Yeah and it's portable on rog ally x, z1 extreme, lenovo go ect
May have to do the 33% resolution scaling to do hard mode, maybe mini games, otherwise this blew my mind, made me buy the steam deck the second I saw it would be compatible
Will bruteforce this with my Rog ally X 😅
They are bringing back ninja gaiden
Use AMD RSR to upscale the game to 1080p instead of playing at 720p native
Thought id be able to run on my 1650, but had the dx12 error so I'll be sure to run it on my Deck instead thanks!
Or just make a ps1 remake, which makes ps1 inferior for mobile and Nintendo Switch. Just look at Final Fantasy 15.
nice
Needs fram gen and fsr
Omg lolol. It sounds like my day 1 switch when I turn on any square enix title
A tip if you’re planning on just playing 30 FPS, you can set the TPD and manual GPU clock to its base to help the deck breathe while not chugging the fan at the same time. I also set VRAM to 4GB to get any minor performance boost as well.
Game is crashing a ton on Steam Deck while its verified it’s definitely not optimized.
I think I might go with a Steam Deck instead of picking up a console from the next generation. Especially with Square Enix wanting to go back to multi console releases. Being able to take games on the go is such a huge bonus! Seems like travelling is the only time I have to game 😅
Ally X has far more powerful CPU&GPU and 8gb more ram compares to the steam deck. I played this game on both devices and steam deck plays and looks like a mess tbh.
Switch2 will run FF7 3Rs much better than either Ally or Steam deck because it will be a nintendo port not a non-optimized PC version of the game. Switch2 has nvidia gpu with DLSS too.
24 fps 🤢
Played 45 minutes of FF7 Rebirth on my Steam Deck and some shader issues and the occasional stutter in the cutscenes. But extremely playable. It does play at 30 fps at most. And expect downgraded graphics similar to the PS4’s version of FF7 Remake which was locked at 30 fps.
This is pretty much what Switch 2 owners should expect next year when Rebirth comes out for them. Do not expect it to look as good as the PS5 Pro or higher end PC. And forget even the base PS5. But I was quite a bit surprised it could even play on my Steam Deck and at a fairly stable 30 fps. Remake could run at a minimum of 45 fps with moments at 60.
I believe this is great news for Switch 2 owners. If you’ve only been a Nintendo owner, thinks Luigi’s Mansion 3 is one of the best looking games on the Switch 1, and can tolerate the stutters in Tears of the Kingdom, downgraded graphics of FF7 Remake and Rebirth should still impress you. The spirits of the Xbone and PS4 lives on in the Deck and Switch 2.
Hopefully, by the time the Switch 2’s version of FF7 Rebirth comes out next year, all the shader issues and slight stuttering should be patched by then. And the Switch 2 version will probably have longer battery life since it’s better optimized for that hardware. Not complaining with FF7 Rebirth on the Deck. At least I can play it now.
Playing on OG ROG at 900p with limited blur 45-50+ FPS it's a joy
Oh Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days Melon Mix 😍 (0:27). As someone who recently bought a steam deck, a tutorial video how to install it on it would be awesome! 💯
hell yeah we decking out with this one 😂
Just wanna say keep up the great content brother been watching since the early days of your channel and what a journey it's been!
your my go-to for any KH news.
One of the only people who geeks out on KH as hard as I do.
I hope you have a wonderful day today bro!!!

If you are constantly playing high power games that heat up the steamdeck, won't the steamdeck over time weardown and break?
ah yes, i love the ps3 framerate in 2025!
Just sharing for anyone who may not know they can do this… I use my Samsung S23 Ultra, my Backbone remote, and an app/software called Parsec to play my PC games remotely when I'm outside, over my phone's data and wifi, and it works GREAT! While it's not the same as having the game on your actual device, the extended battery life compared to handheld PCs is awesome.
