What did you think about my thoughts on God of War Ragnarok?
It took time for me to beat this game because I had a lot going on. But I was more excited to beat it so I can watch ur videos again, than I was to beat it for the story
Great review man.thank's
The game was awesome as I expected. I really hope this isn’t the end of Kratos being the main focus.
Gow Ragnarok but Ragnarok is 30min. Biggest wasted potential was odin. Never thought to exploit the father son relationship. Never thought to try bring out the monster from within kratos. Thats the type of character hes been built up to be.
Damn unreal watching this feels like god of war 2018 was just released the other day,
Enjoyed the whole game
Hmmm… I don't know…
I agree with you that it was good to see the various characters getting some sort of closure to the story.
And yet, this is also what marks this game as nothing but a modern, stereotypical, (semi) open world, AAA game. The core story is actually somewhat short with parts that are clearly rushed and / or intended to get fleshed out by DLC later. And there's just so much busybody work, constantly backtracking across levels you've already been through multiple times.
If you think about it Kratos probably wouldn’t have had any issues with the gods if he never met Faye. She started rebellions against the gods, fought Thor, hid her past and ethnicity from him and then boom just died and left him with Atreus and those problems. How toxic. 😢 I personally wouldn’t have let that slide g…
Honestly the only good thing about this game is the combat and that’s because it’s god of war.. but everything else is trash this style of gameplay and mechanics are getting old I love some of the stuff they did when they originally did it but now it’s old and boring
Ragnarok is my GOTY. I just finished the game. Eldin Ring has nothing on Ragnarok. Eldin Ring was fun for the 1st few months and yes I did beat the game. To me Ragnarok was better in every way
They ended lokis arch , like kratos says Loki will go Atreus will stay. When the next game is out and they move on from Norse mythology we will see how Atreus is no longer known as Loki .
Exactly you understand It its one of the biggest character developpment in video games. We can just make fkn 13 games of kratos raging raging again and again out of non sense god damn It. People sometime dont have the point of view…
I think it started good and slowly got worse
I just finished the game and here’s what I think: I do see Atreus as the future of the franchise but I also see more games with Kratos, I would love there to be more games with Kratos. When I finished the game it left me thinking: wait…what if they do a game series with Atreus and sequels with Kratos to connect the story? Because now there are 2 jormungandr and Atreus can have adventures with the world serpent that ignored ragnarok and have Kratos meet with him along the way, what do you think?
I don't understand why ppl say dragged out and it took to long. It's all part of the story and if u got a good story then every part is worth it
I like the angraboda part the end is worth it when loki turns into wolf to race her soooo good
No i do not agree with you it's not a perfect ending for kratos and it shouldn't be the ending of kratos at all. The game is called God of war not God of mischief or anything. Ending kratos story mean ending the whole game once and for all
This was a great game and I enjoyed playing it: the visuals, combat, MUSIC, side quests are top tier BUT I must admit that I'm a little bit disappointed with the main story. I feel like there is so much missed opportunities regarding the main story arc.
The beginning was promising but then I feel like the story sort of collapsed and all the time I was kind of waiting "when does this story really begins to get epic". The ragnarök was quite anticlimactic, I feel like the ragnarök part could have been like 50% of the story (war raging and actual end of the worlds knocking on the doors) but now it's just last mission where we slash through basic enemies while things happen in the background. There are many main story missions/moments that feel kind of disconnected and could be left out imo ("haha lmao the moon is stolen let's return it", "yea I'm just a random traveller dude and I'm gonna sacrifice myself by jumping off this flying boat epic style" etc).
There was a great deal of beautiful and meaningful story moments but I feel the overall story arc was quite fragmented and a bit disappointing. Jörmungandr getting thrown back in time, Odin boss fight, the Mask, Ragnarök destroying Asgard… all these could have been given so much more attention and weight imo.
This game is a 10 in my opinion and my personal all time favorite video game(also I cried my ass off multiple times while playing it) but my one and only complain is that Athena made no appearance whatsoever I get that she is part of the past and we have mover over it but come on man just she appearing in kratos tent before ragnarok and finally have the last conversation together and give us closure between these two characters would have perfection
WHO BLEW THE HORN?
I really don’t want this to be the end of Kratos’s story
The shrine Atreus got angry & turned into a wolf over, that depicted Kratos dying in his arms, Odin took his place. Idk who else caught it, but when Atreus summoned Odin's soul to put into a marble, I made the link back to the shrine in Ironwood.
The subtle hints are great. I agree with both the criticism, & the praise. Story was good, could've went harder, but the growth is amazing, & I was SO happy Atreus didn't lose Fenrir, but instead, "adopted" a Giant Hel Hound. Feels like, if they do advance the story once more, Kratos will be the keeper of peace, along with Tyr, & maintain order.
I'm hoping the next entry will be a new testament to gaming as an art.
………..also, you sound exactly like Videogamedunkey😁
he has PTSD, maybe he cried sometime when he remembered things he did to his family, but we never see it on screen
IMO Kratos always been emotional in the old games, not just anger, but sadness and self-loath
but he always has soft spot especially to his family (outside olympus Gods), he let deimos beat him in to a pulp in ghost of sparta, he even sacrifice his godly power so he can stay with his daughter Caliope in chain of olympus, even tho he let her go to save the world in the end
I think you do an excellent job. Thank you
Best game series of all time! It’s incredible
If I had to pick one thing that I really had issues with, and I'll die on this hill, is that the game does not have a single useless moment when it comes to the development of characters, their evolution and emotional maturing. HOWEVER, what this game has is more than a few of those moments taking place at the wrong moments, moments where the sheer rawness of their emotions does not seem to fit the general context of what is happening. My go-to example whenever I drive this point home online is Kratos talk with Atreus about opening his heart. Again, it is beautiful and should 100% be in the game, but in the middle of the god damn battle to end all battles, for Christ's sake. Just rewatch a clip from this scene: it is absolute chaos and mayhem, then after the machines are destroyed, EVERYTHING stops just to watch them talk. I am sorry, but that scene was misplaced. Again: misplaced. It should totally be there and not having it in the overall story makes it less rich. It just does not belong where it was placed.
This is not the end for kratos. Let's get that out of the way right now. SMS isnt that stupid.
The only problem with Atreus's gameplay is how the difficulty drops for him playtime. It goes from hard mode with kratos to basically story mode with Atreus.
People need to tell the difference between a rushed ending and a very fast paced ending
I agree Atreus and Angraboda part sucked ass also I didn’t love playing Atreus as I prefer Kratos fighting style
I really liked the game. Cant decide if i like this or GOW 18 more. MY biggest complaint is number of Asgardians introduced/boss fights and scale of the boss fights with Thor and Odin. I felt like they could have at least introduced more Aesir doesnt mean we had to fight them all. and thrown in 2 more Gods to fights.
This story is not at all a masterpiece, I don't see it, I platted it before you come at me with not playing all of it but the development of characters is rushed and its surface level, the pacing is horrendous and dialogue is not it. Asgard was a let down a ragnarok didn't feel special.
There are alot of special moments, especially between kratos and artreus but I honestly prefer their relationship in the previous game.
Agreed about the angroboda atreaus section, was so boring.
Only thing I hope for an Atreus/Loki game is we get something like Horizon Zero Dawn where we see him around the same age as in Ragnarök for maybe the first 15-20 minutes and then we see his progress of being around 20 years old, really getting a handle on his abilities and going from there. I would absolutely love to see a game with just him. And of course, Kratos will be back in future games, even seeing where he's been or been up to in that time Atreus has been on his own journey.
Jalla the Yak.
The Iron Woods clip wasn’t a drag it was a masterpiece I on the other I can’t wait to play it again
The Radiance Armorer rules right
I dont think this is the end of Kratos story, I think they will use Sidnri who knows the world tree best to send him to a diffent land maybe right as Atraus was going to come home. Boom new series of you being in a new pantheon.
Hey @Jon Ford I was about to ask if the Horn in the 2018 version was mentioned at all. Thankyou for confirming my concerns. I still love this game but they missed a HUGE theory that could've made this a masterpiece.
My dissapontment was with ragnarok it self. The event felt rushed and dissapointing.
Not related that much, but while thinking about this ending, it reminds me of what we were cheated out of with the Last Of Us Part 2 story and ending. Joel and Ellie deserved this type of ending and storytelling. I don’t think I’ll ever get over that smh
Y'know Kratos being worshiped as a leader kinda fulfills his original God of War (ps2) prophecy
I was crying my eyes out at the end
Honestly this game was a bit underwhelming because of all the hype i had, like they left so many things unexplained. I remember watching cory barlog's interviews, and he really made it look like there was a lot of foreshadowing in the previous game, like a lot of things that would play a role later. But thats not even true i mean i never had that "ooh so thats what it was" feeling. Also some parts of the game look like they were just hasty (dont know if its the right term to use) like SPOILER freya attacking kratos in a full valkirye armor then asking him out lol tf (i understand she needs his help but i mean she shows up trying to kill him tf). Also in vanaheim freya talks to kratos about her childhood like nothing happened beetwen them but dont worry we'll put that "i might still kill you" line to remind you he killed her son. This makes no sense, to me. it looks like they regretted turning freya against kratos and looked for a quick way to get her back with him.
There are other things that are so much of a stretch, so deluding. For example angroboda's grandaughter stealing souls from animals just for fun, wtf?? They could have found a better way in my opinion. Or even Surtr who happens to have his wife's heart (but they didnt join??? if giving your heart is not joining idk wht is lol??) and the fucking spark of the world right in his backyard. One last thing. There is a huge plothole. The SPOILER tyr plot twist was pretty good, but if you think about it, how did Durlin know where tyr was if he was not even there??. Ok maybe you can say that Odin idk just spread the news that tyr was in a mine in svartalfheim, ok, but remember at the start of the game Atreus says that he found hints about tyr's location in the giants' shrines. That makes noo sense.
Let me know if you think maybe i am wrong, or i missed something. idk this is just how i feel rn
Anyway i liked the game a lot, im not an hater im a big fan but these things really ruined the game. Not to the point that is bad tho. Still the characters and their relationships are fantastic, the acting is amazing, the whole secondary things are perfect, and these things are what make this game so good imo.
