Playing on the new hardest difficulty option with NG+ with all my skills maxed is presenting a decent challenge with a number of deaths. You just can't stand out in the open, on this hardest difficulty your health will take a beating from every bullet. I did get the platinum trophy rather easily playing it on easy my first time through the game.
It seems funny that all the bad points he seems to be talking about is how faithful it feels to the movies. He says here how Robocop can walk into a room and feel invincible while bullets bounce off him and while taking out loads of basic enemies, well that's exactly what Robocop is. He is hardly going to be running around ducking behind cover haha. Also, tougher enemies like ED-209 are obviously going to be in it later on etc.

PLEASE let this game be successful and then have this same studio make a faithful adaptation of the 2000AD comics superstar Judge Dredd, PLEASE

Preordered. This after playing the Terminator game. That was also poorly reviewed but turned out to be a love letter to the films. I reckon this will rock.

This game sounds incredible based on this lackluster preview. All the things he’s griping about make the game sound very good based on the source material. Everybody wants CoD and Halo from FPS, not every game needs to retread that ground. This game was a day one purchase for me regardless as I am very pleased with the previews and how it captures the look and appeal of the comics and first two movies. Anything else is just gravy.

If the game feels like it's retreading old ground, then count me in! Terminator Resistance also treaded on old ground with its main campagin and both DLC's and captured the awesome feel of the T1 and T2.

I want to to see Rpbocop fighting, not just his hand on the screen! Many people that make these reboots, games etc don't understand the original appeal of Robocop.
If you are playing a Robocop game you shouldn't expect regular enemy encounters to bother him.
"But by sticking so close…" – Are you serious? You either complain something is too far from it's derivative source material, or complain it's too close… people want to play Robocop because we grew up with the VHS's from the 80 and 90s. Get a real man to do these reviews. fark me.

Seems like yet another game that promises a lot but will probably not deliver on them…
Right now the game looks really repetitive: walk in a room, shoot some guys, replenish health and ammo, go into the next room.
Also I'm not sure if it's by design or if it's because the gameplay is on controller but the movement and aim mechanics seems quite sluggish.
Idk first impressions for me say a very generic rpg fps game that will probably be DAO or die really soon after launch.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion dates from 2006!? and it had 1st 'AND' 3rd person perspective. Robocop was shown in all its 3rd person perspective awesomeness and glory in MK and he looked Friggin' Amazing. Makes you want more of that.

If I merely want to see a (pair of) hand(s) there's a ton of other 1st person shooters I can choose from, if they make a Robocop game I like at least the posibility to see Robocop in all in all its 3rd person perspective awesomeness and glory.
Especially after we've been served a Robocop in all its 3rd person perspective awesomeness and glory by MK so recently that it's still burned on my retina and lingering in my mind. Very big missed opportunity which even might affect sales since 1st person isn't everyone's cup o' tea.
Let alone of mainstream gamers or people not familiar to gaming but whom are huge Robocop fans. People you otherwise could've pulled into the expirience much easier because of- and with the possibility of playing 3rd person perspective, which just is many times more accessible than the (merely) the 1st person perspective.

What an odd dissonance to spend half of a video game review on story. Modern game reviewers, beholden to corporate industry buzzwords still manage, to miss the plot. That and Alien isolation was difficult to the point that aged fans of the film couldn’t possibly find enjoyment in it. No matter the difficulty setting. I think we need a second opinion to these outlets and their by the numbers, rote, square peg expectations never meant to fit into round holes. They will defend their bad acting, because incompetent share holders expect them to, but this appraisal of a video game is wrong, and this game isn’t even available yet! I’m not sorry that Robo-Cop behaves like he’s in a shooting gallery. Never show this young reviewer Starship Troopers… I’ll buy this game, for (more than) a dollar.
This looks terrible for 2023. And yes the combat doesn't seem it can be any good/fun given the original material. Looks like a game mechanically good for 12 years old at best or console. Higher difficulty can only make it more frustrating rather than fun.

I cant believe the guy who wrote this script is angry that the game is faithful to the movies its based on. Isnt this what the fans want? "Oh but the gameplay is too much like the movies" well what you want the gameplay to be? Do you want robocop to be sneaking around and taking over outposts by backstabbing enemies? Do you want a looter shooter mechanic? Should robocop loot higher level guns? Maybe climb towers and have a stamina meters? Should they have made it a souls like? Then he says that the story feels "been there done that " as opposed to what every modern franchise that can be summed up as "everything is nihilistic and there are no good guys and bad guys and everything is different shades of grey?" Surprised he didnt whine the game was "pro cop" like journalists did with spiderman so in the sequel it wont be "pro cop" whatever that means, probably more "different shades of grey" with corrupt cops, which is "been there done that". The combat will become a challenge once the mechs start showing up.
Think the narrator fails to acknowledge the majority of people who will play this game have probably never seen the original films. The movies released over 30 years ago! Telling the original story is a solid approach to a new audience.
