… honestly, the food drive itself is something we need to work on. She's not possesive or guardy, but she will tokyo drift across the kitchen if she hears the food bowl, and begin running in place like Scooby Doo if she's held back by the leash
If your dog is surfing while you aren’t in the room, here’s what worked for me: I pointed a home security camera towards the counter, and left a raw steak on the counter. I put his Ecollar on, and then stepped outside and waited while observing. He waited about 2-3 minutes checking to make sure I wasn’t there first. When he finally jumped up and started looking for what he could smell, I lit him up. Max out the collar. This is an intolerable behavior. Rinse and repeat as needed. It only took about 5 jolts before he got the picture. Haven’t had the problem since.
I understand that not everyone has access to these resources. I figured I would share what worked for me, as this drove me insane, to the point where I almost got rid of my dog. I can see by the comments that many of you suffer from this behavior happening whenever you are not present.
I don’t want my dog in my kitchen at all
This is fine, but how do you ever stop rewarding your dog? I can’t keep treating him every time when I’m cooking or eating. If I stop he will start jumping up again won’t he?
I think the thing eveyone is missing is that the dogs can smell the food bye them but get rewarded for smelling and not eating. Trains the brain

Oh man this is my biggest pet peeve. My friend invited us all over for Thanksgiving and her dog kept jumping on the table, jumping on us, and hovering over our plates. Mind you he’s no small dog… he’s a big German Shepherd. It was so annoying.

My dog takes Tupperware out of the sink and destroys it just to lick what’s on the inside this morning I put the leftover baked beans from lunch in the sink with the lid on it and by the time I was five minutes gone, the beans was already gone and the Tupperware destroyed
Sorry my dog is too clever for this. He literally waits an hour to make sure nobody coming to kitchen, then he makes his move and goes over the table. If someone around he won't even get close to table no matter what's on it
I cannot keep my puppy from jumping up. He’s not even seeing anything up there. When he gets thirsty he will jump up and try to get the sink. lol
Hopefully this helps with my Burnese Mountain Dog. She's only 5 months old but she's been able to reach the counter since she was 4 months old. Hopefully I can out stubborn her on this training 😂

The problem with my girl who is around 16 months is that she is very food motivated, she did calm down for a while up until 3 months ago so I could leave the kitchen door open and she would only attempt to steal anything that was easy to reach, now I have to close the door again unless I am in there (as she is nervous when I cook as she was splashed when she was younger when she got under my feet) its not just counter surfing she outright licks every counter and even the cooker even if they are clean (though I am aware even though they look clean they may not be)
