why do you need to do the little correction? Why do you need to pop the leash when the dog still communicate to other dog?
Too much control for me, and it doesn’t make sense for the dogs.
I'll never my pei put to situation to meet this other dog….he is so unsecure and owner don't know how to work with him
Worked first time! 🥳
I gotta try this its just hard my dog has become extremely reactive
Errm. What kind of horse it that?
I needed this
Peoples free roaming pitbulls have come up to my dog several times on walks trying to bite him & my dog still doesn't stop pulling to dogs
That's leash reactive?!
I think this uncle needs some training.
yeah no shocks just terrible yanks on the collar which causes pain the dog yelps and could cause injury. He's even says he wants to promote fear in the dog. What an ass.
“no treats”
This is typical of instructional videos. The dog is either barely reactive or is behaving much better with a new experienced handler. Read your own comments. Most people do not experience this result. You don’t respond to any comments because it is difficult to explain. Stop acting like it’s not. Having a side kick with a perfectly behaved dog to help train is a fiction for most dog owners. I enjoy the content but I would appreciate real life lessons. Maybe use a new dog owner to video in a real life situation with an out of control dog and show same results . Not quite as easy.
My dog would be trying to get between my legs to get to the other dog
What if your dog can get out of any gentle leader!
Dont hurt your dog!
Dont listen to wackos like this! Positive reinforcement training is scientifically proven to actually work and not traumatize your dog for life.
Dude, you're the best!
When i tell some people i do this ( the corrections ) they wil say ahh no you have to do positive training, with a clicker and treats.
Yeah ikr we tried didnt work, trade the harnass for a collar, and doing corrections.
2 weeks in and my dog a lot calmer while going for a walk.
he still reacts to other dogs sometimes when i correct to late. But its work in progress.
I can see my dog getting more confident in me and him self.
He is more focused on me when walking.
And thats a good thing its not were hurting these dogs by giving a nodge on the leash.
Its like: OHHH DAMNNN THERES A DOG!!! correction ohh shit what was i doing again? idk lets walk further with my owner.
I have the exact same issue with my rescued dog. He's a 4-year-old Belgian Shepherd/Chow Chow mix.
I've been working with him for 9 months now, and he’s learned a lot of basic commands thanks to Beckman’s videos. However, I can’t seem to completely eliminate his reactivity to other dogs during walks. Unfortunately, I live in a sh** third-world town where you encounter 3 or 4 stray dogs on almost every corner of the street. This makes it REALLY HARD to train him not to react because 90% of the time, these stray dogs, as they are completely loose, approach us barking aggressively, and there’s no one to help me separate them if they get into a fight (Which happens 70% of the time).
I feel like I’ve made some progress, though, with a lot of time and dedication. My dog is a bit less reactive and pays more attention to me now. However, all that progress seems to go out the window every time a pack of stray dogs comes directly to attack him for no apparent reason. The problem is, you never know what intentions a pack of stray dogs might have. It’s completely different from walking in the park, where other people have their dogs on a leash.
That’s why I chose to avoid any conflict, and if I see any loose dogs, I immediately change direction. Another thing I found useful is walking him at night when no one is around, but I feel very frustrated about not be able to walk him during the day safely.
I need a video with an actual bad dog like mine lol.. she goes feral when she sees another dog and idk what to do
I can't even see that this dog is reactive?
This dog has had more than one lesson I wouldn’t call it highly reactive
What does he mean by the "reinforcement you get from letting them freak out at another dog vs from treats"…
Thank you!! This is great.
if only my dog was half as calm as her
My dog is actually insane, you have not seen reactivity until you have seen my stubborn dog
good video' but not a good example of a highly reactive dog situation my opinion this corectivness did not happen over night but it has some valid training points thank you for vid
I have yet to see a reactive dog like mine. Mine will sit at the door and stay(while leashed) but once we take a few steps out he starts pulling. The first 15 minutes is pulling and tugging and redirecting and waiting and it’s not enjoyable whatsoever for either of us. Some days he does better than others but wish it would be more consistent.
By the way I soooo want to hear his opinion on why some dogs are reactive and some aren't. Is there a video out there where he explains?
This dog is super calm compared to mine. Mine will SCREAM if he sees another dog or person.
I think its great you discuss different methods as well as using both mixed "positive" and "negative" incentives.
My dog just goes nuts when she sees another dog, wailing and gnashing of teeth. I’ve paid for dog training so hopefully it’ll get better but I feel so terrible when she does this, I feel like it makes other people nervous. I feel like there’s no way for me to fix or practice this without making other people walking their dog nervous.
I'm sorry that's not highly leash reactive
Excellent
That is the most chill "reactive" dog.
