Ooo, aaah, can't wait to use this method to train my 3yr old rescue dog who has puppy manners.
Can you do a video elaborating more on using a bridge, when its best, how, when to fade it out etc. Your videos are an inspiration and a light in the tunnel! Thank you!
I would use the bed. Except my dog just chews it…. 8 months old
Hey Joel! What training method or technique would you recommend for when you go over to a friend’s house and their dogs jump all over you at the door? And then continue jumping on you throughout your visit lol?
All of this knowledge about behaviour will come in handy. Thanks for the videos!
Loool im amongst the everybody and opt for bed option maybe i should try the lead option too
I did this with my 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks and were such gentlemen !! I taught them to sit 6-7 feet from the door and wait calmly while I let my guests in and waited to be released!! They were always in tune and alert though when strangers were coming over and waited for me to say that they were ok…if they were! Otherwise, they would be standing tall next to me ready for action if we were unsure of the intent of those strangers!! Looooooved that breed!!!
Common sense dog training. Thanks for what you do. 1 year 7 month old lab/rot mix making great progress. Still so excited when he sees guests or stranger but getting better.
I can’t even give my dog a bed bc he just drags it around and chews it up Sony ear if laying in it. 🙄
Have you considered opening an Amazon affiliate storefront based off of the items that you use for dog training? If you wanted a free $1000/month I think that would be a great idea. Just put it in your description of each video.
What happens if bed is in one room and the door in the other one
I tried this with the kids, but they wouldn't stay on the bed 😁
Excellent tutorial. Will do w my reactive rescue. Thanks Joel!
Want to let you know I've been practicing the "come" command with a treat in my hand in the backyard with my 7 month Lab for 2 weeks and he has gone from mostly ignoring me to a 98% response where he consistantly comes to touch my hand . I even had a situation where the landscaper left our side fence open and my dog wandered outside the fence to the front lawn….I issued the "come" command and he immediately ran back into the yard to me…he has been a handful bc he has a short attention span sometimes…next I need to work on the "bed stay" for when guests come over and he launches himself at them to greet them… thank you…
So what would have happened if at the end (where she wasn’t going to into the bed for a bit and finally went) she lost interest in getting the treat and just wandered off?
I'm going to try this with my four month old Westie today, thank you.
My puppy around 5 months old bites and dominates my daughter. But he is terrified of me. How do I balance him out?
Thank you so much! I actually feel like I could have a well behaved dog after watching your channel. I super appreciate how you get right yo the lesson, too. I may become a dog owner yet!
If you ever do videos on littermates as well, that would be great! I've been on top of training as much as I can, but I'm sure some littermate tips would help.
Thanks im gonna try this, you are so right about training geusts not listening lol. Noone can resist a giving a puppy affection so often…my guests just reward the behavior. I'm going to give this a try instead.
That was very helpful, thanks Joel
From Western Australia
Great content as per normal and very relevant as I'm fostering a 16 week old bull arab.
Thank you for the puppy videos!
Dang! I missed this one😔
" … don't stay in Kindergaten forever …" 🤣
Yeah Puppy training! Thanks
Exactly what is needed in our home! Thanks for all you’re doing! Timing, timing, timing:)
would it be useful to leave the leash on the puppy to be able to control her better?
How long should a dog be expected to stay in place?
Yesssssssssss! All things I need right now – perfect 🥰
Ideas on getting a puppy's attention? She's finally connecting to her name well, but she's not always interested in me, so baiting with a treat takes fully getting down into her line of vision.
Sometimes my older dog jumps in & tries to correct her. Should I keep them separate?
Thanks for another puppy video. You mentioned the step-on-the leash method. How do you fade that out?
Great stuff! I understand that training happenes through the lifetime of the dog, but can you talk about general time limits and frequency on training sessions.
Thank you! This is exactly what I needed, 6month old German Shepard is so hard to control when people come over. He is just so excited and nosy 🙄, it’s quite the experience. You have helped me so much thank you for the content. I live in Olympia, Washington and just the other day, on our walk we met a 4 month old laberdoodle and her dad. It was funny because as we shared our experiences, you came up. And we absolutely had a moment of complete gratitude for you! Keep it up! Your doing Gods work!
