My new puppy is being very aggressive towards my older dog. My older dog who is 8 has growled at her and nipped to let her know but she reacts by viciously attaching to his face and she has drawn blood several times, I just don’t know what to do anymore 😢
Got a new puppy w my 20 lb 12 year old girl. I have completely allowed her to set boundaries with the pup. Older girl has taken her down a few times but 3 weeks in and they’re playing together occasionally and my old girl is somewhat enjoying having her around. I do back her up also when my old girl is just too tired to do it. I’ve given chews too! Thank you for the validation that I did this right
im very supprised with the tolerance of my older dogs the new puppy wont leave them alone older dogs are just trying to walk away with a few warning growls, puppy wants to play the older ones just wanna relax.
My 5 yr old male intact dog has always loved dogs of all breeds and sizes and always played well with new puppies and dogs but my son brought home a 8 week old male and he wants nothing to do with him and went after him twice quite aggressively when the puppy was lying down chewing a stick and once for playing with a ball. They were on opposite sides of the yard but when I turned my back to clean up after them he charged and hit and mouthed him with ill intent and for the first time he would not listen and kept trying to get around me to get at the pup again. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Bentley had a brother who got along well with so his over reaction to this pup is a bit puzzling. The puppy is kenneled at night and is only with him supervised but my normally very social dog Bentley clearly wants nothing to do with Luka
Thanks for the video this is so helpful!
Put some of your successful dogs on your wall, regarding different problems 😂
thanks a lot!!!!
When you mark behavior how does the older dog not know the clap us for him.
My pit is 10 years old, a big baby but was attacked by dogs before so has some ptsd. I got a 2 month old puppy now 4 months. She is relentlessly attacking him. He does so good though. Once hes done he lets her know and she backs off. But shes psycho and the cycle continues 😂
What about bringing your puppy to meet your friends older dog to their house for the first time? I think it’s a bad idea no?
Any advice on bringing home a new male vs female to a pre existing dog. Everywhere I look people say differently. And that the types of breed’s matter
I have a 2 year old female pit/husky and I just got a 5 month old female Dalmatian for about a week now. I introduced them at the dog park since my older dog is used to meeting dogs there. We brought them home together and everything is okay other than my 2 year old female seems to focus on the puppy a lot and hover over her. She puts her head over the puppy and pushes her around with her weight. If the puppy lays down she paws at her in a rough way. It has been improving and I think I’m doing good about breaking that energy but I don’t know what is normal behavior and what might be the start of aggression or possessiveness. I’d really appreciate any advice
You are the alpha. It's up to you to set the agenda. Let the older dog correct and defend itself. I back up my older dog. All the way. The puppy tries to take over or drink from older dog bowl ect i nip it right then snd there. The puppy will learn. Pretty good video.
and what type of bones
hi what can we put in the kong
I’m looking for info about getting my aggressive 2 yo dog to be comfortable with a new puppy in the house. I found a puppy and the shelter doesn’t have room for her so she was staying with us. I found a friend who wants to adopt her so she’s fostering now, but for the two weeks she was here, my dog would stalk and attempt to attack her when the puppy wasn’t doing anything, not even looking at her. So we did a crate and rotate and I put my girl in a muzzle. I would like to one day get a new puppy but obviously I have work to do with my girl before she’ll accept one, if ever.
I'm dealing with this now. I have a 7-year-old-lab and we got a 4-month-old German Sheppard. They got along great the first three months but now they have started fighting. I think the puppies rough play was okay at 25 pounds not so much at 57 pounds.
I have a 2 yr old Pitt I just got a 4month old pitt girl. The girl is bullying my older pup why wont he defend himself? I find myself helping him alot i want him to be confident enuff to correct her. Rt now she is rulin my house. Any advice for me?
My one year old mini goldendoodle doesn’t let my puppy relax. She almost constantly agitated him to try to stir him up to play. The 4 month cavapoochon does play, but he needs breaks and is also independent and likes to play with toys and other things sometimes. I only worry when my mini doodle puts the full weight of both her paws on his little back or neck that he might get injured, so I tell her “off” when she does this. Likewise, when the puppy is playing with her and biting and holding, I try to stop him from that. She has helped once or twice from it, but has never given a strong correction to the younger pup. Having two pups is harder than I expected!
HELLO, exactly how it should be👍. My 15 Years old Doggy without any Teeth's have Priorität #1!!!!!! GREETINGS FROM GERMANY
My 4 month pit mix is so aggressive with my 13 yr old weiner dog 😢 it’s so stressful with them in the same room cause I don’t want her to hurt her back. 😭
what to do when the older dog is being an asshole to the new dog?
My 2 year old pitbull keeps getting aggressive with my new Yorkie puppy. I'm scared she will hurt him. What can I do? She's tried to bite him already
How do I get my multise 12 year old blind dog used to my goldendoodle puppy
Ok so, MY 2 year old dog Lacy LOVES the new 12 week old puppy.! And we have been very mindful of giving Lacy extra loving support during this time. The first week new puppy was playing being a puppy and Lacy put him in his place, but the past 2 days the puppy has gotten fiercely aggressive with her! I've separated them and went over to give Lacy loves and kept puppy behind gate. Is it OK to keep them together and let Lacy correct him? Or better to scold and separate puppy?
Well I brought home a puppy hoping my older dog would at least not mind her. Older dog is pretty upset and jealous of the new dog. We aren’t even to a stage where she is tired of nipping she won’t let puppy get close for her. It’s like I suddenly decided to replace my wife with a younger one. I hope I can make this work but it looks like we have some real challenges. Any tips?
Thank you. I adopted a 3 mo old pup Saturday. My 13 yr old Lab mix isnt happy. His comfort is paramount to me. Your video has reinforced what i was already doing. Thank you for the info about the kong filled with frozen food.
Just had a dog flung on me of small puppy. My neighbor could not take care of it anymore. And I couldn't help but take it in.I have an older dog about 3 years old and he's a little reluctant to it.This video helped me so much
I have a full male bull terreir and just got a female puppy but my grown one isint reacting well he wants to attack the puppy is there away to fix this he is only okay wen I'm holding the puppy around him he will smell the puppy real quick and stay away as if he thinks the puppy is a threat
THank you
I need more i really hurt myself today making sure the puppy didn't get hurt .
My 3 yr went after my 3month puppy today. When the he's been the best dog ever
I have a mix breed Shiba inu Maltese. Theres a new Boston terrier puppy 3 months. Pretty hard task at this moment.
I have a 17-year-old Shorkie named Zoe, who's like a furry grandma with a PhD in couch lounging. Some days, she’s a graceful gazelle, clearing her doggy stairs like she’s auditioning for the Olympics. Other days? Well, let’s just say she treats those stairs like a game of Twister—left paw green, right paw… whoops, down she goes!
In a moment of pure genius (or utter madness), we decided to bring home a new puppy, Luna, hoping this little bundle of chaos would inspire Zoe to embrace her inner puppy. The first few days were a comedy show: Luna tried to engage Zoe in play, and Zoe responded with a growl and a single sharp bark that sent Luna into a dramatic cower, like she’d just seen a horror movie.
I figured it was all part of establishing the hierarchy—like a canine Game of Thrones. But by day three, we were starting to wonder if Luna had taken a vow of silence. Spoiler alert: she hadn’t! Suddenly, in the midst of a “who’s the boss?” showdown, Luna found her voice and decided to unleash her inner diva. Instead of cowering, she started bouncing around Zoe like a jack-in-the-box on caffeine, barking with all the enthusiasm of a puppy who just discovered her tail.
Now, these two are locked in a battle of epic proportions, with Zoe looking less like the alpha and more like a confused elder trying to remember where she left her glasses. And to top it all off, my once well-mannered girl is now peeing on the floor while giving us an “Are you seeing this?!” look.
So here we are, two dogs in a turf war, and I’m just sitting back, hoping they don't form a union against us. Help!
