What if your dog is not motivated by Toys? How do you re-direct?
What about when you stand up, if they continue to bite and attack your clothes. We have tried the OW! method, and this seems to make him more angry/initiate more play and continue to do it. We stand up and walk away, and he lunges at our buts and back of legs. What do we do??!!
We have a 12 week beagle puppy, she is great all day until around 7 at night and then she becomes nippy, bitey and lunges at our face. We dont know why she does this and we try to redirect with other stuff but its like she cant forget she want to lunge at our face. We finally remove her to her crate until she is calm. I hate doing that but we dont know what else to do.
My darling, sweet little rescue puppy, Gingerella, (Argentinian Dog-American Staffordshire-Bulldog i.a. cross) arrived aged 6 weeks, did exactly that & the other bitey stuff so i cupped her face in my hands every day and kissed her on the nose and cheeks whilst talking to her. She has stopped the face lunging as she has understood. For the other biting what worked with her as with my Staffie was to leave my hand in her mouth, feign pain ow ow, turn away, and every puppy has immediately reacted to this, they turned around me, looked in my face with sadness & stopped the bitey stuff, this had been recommended by someone in a FB group and it really worked, tone of voice is incredibly effective too. I am lucky to be able to spend every second of my time with my dogs (3 Boxer-Poynter cross, Staffie (SBT) & the latest little one now aged 4 months.
