GoPro Quick adds MotionFrame and POV 360 video editing tools

If you have fun shooting 360 video with a GoPro MAX, but isn’t exactly a fan of the editing process after, here’s some good news: GoPro just rolled out two new tools for its Quik mobile app aimed at making 360 editing a bit less of a hassle.

Let the gyroscope and accelerometer do the editing for you

The first is MotionFrame, a rebranded version of what used to be called OverCapture. It lets you play your 360 video back on your phone and physically move your device so its gyroscope can do the work and “record” a standard flat-frame video from it.

The second new tool is called POV, which pulls metadata from your original recording to create a “see what I saw” style edit. It locks the camera’s perspective to your direction of travel, making it easier to create point-of-view recaps.

GoPro says the new features add to the Quick app growing list of editing features, such as:

• AI-Powered Object Tracking: Select a subject and Quik uses the power of AI to automatically keep that object in view and in focus for the entirety of the clip.
• Keyframing: Set multiple keyframe points for where you want the video to pan and/or zoom, and the Quik app will smooth out the transitions keyframe-to-keyframe for a polished looking edit. You can also change the Digital Lens setting to achieve a range of different looks.
• CameraFx: Quickly add dynamic, cinematic camera movements like pans, rotations, backflips, rolls and more with a single tap in the app.
• Single Clip Edits: Add filters, adjust color, sound levels and more to single clips from 360 photos and videos.
• Frame Grab Tool: Quickly extract high quality video stills to share as photos.
• Cloud Editing: Edit 360 footage directly from your GoPro cloud account with a GoPro Premium or Premium+ subscription.

Both MotionFrame and POV are available now in the latest version of the Quik app on iOS and Android. The GoPro MAX itself is still on sale for $369.99, with GoPro throwing in a one-year Premium subscription.
