(9 months after this video posted) Nature Jan. 2016 article: "Scientists bust myth that our bodies have more bacteria than human cells"

So who thinks there boyfriend has the same thing and what do you call love with kitty I mean I do the same thing to my cat that these video is talking about
#screwhashtags
Does this mean we ask villagers who dont speak english to just poop or puke into a cup. I dont even want to imagin how they got these samples…
I'm curious. Can people with pan hypopituitarism (e.g. no pituitary hormones) have affection? Oxytocin is released by hypothalamus through posterior pituitary. Does it still gets into blood without pituitary gland?
Ugh. Dog people. Blegh.
It's not just puppies…. Spend time around any zoo keeper and you'll hear lots of "goo goo ga ga" (baby talk). It seems most animal people have an overactive maternal or paternal instinct.
Also, oxytocin makes you lie and cheat more… probably to help us cheat our social group to favor our own offspring.
do cats do the same?
I'm a Venezuelan, and there is something interesting in the Yanomami Cultre, specifically in their food. it is that they prepare a very disgusting fermented ponch they use fruites and THEIR SALIVA to ferment the fruit, and I'm talking ALL THE TRIBE'S SALIVA from children to old shamans and the ancient tribe leaders. that could definetely affect their Gut bacteria diversity.
My hypothalamus is broken… I gave u my hypothalamus and you broke it! I loved you with all my hypothalamus and this is how you treat me?
#cute
I am going to stare at my doggies now.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY THERE'S A WHOLE PERIOD OF SCISHOW VIDEOS WITH TWO TOPICS INSTEAD OF ONE?
Still not very satisfying, now we know Oxytocin is released when we made eye contact with the dog/people but why? What mechanism actually trigger the release of Oxytocin? Staring? Then why does staring at each other releases Oxytocin then?
I think answering at least "one why" is needed to be satisfying for me.
The Yanumamu were discussed extensively in my cultural anthropology class in the year 2000. Most of our discussion was based on a book written in the 70's by an anthropologist who spent decades studying them. 2008 is not correct.
what about cats??? Meow…..
"samples" = poop
#cute
Now that you've mentioned it, can you explain the psychology behind eye contact?
Ha! Suck it cat people! :oP
Ha! Suck it cat people! :oP
cats are much lovelier grabs popcorn
Not enough cute puppy picture in this video 🙂 always enjoy your videos
I don't like the new hair cut. It makes me uneasy.
I think, the information you give will be more effective if you speak a bit slower. It almost looks like you want to finish it a run away from the world Dude! Remember, not all are from the US or English speaking countries. Speaking slower will help a lot of those out there who kind of learn on the go! No offence!
@Niq Dzisaljsfdbnla except life span
the #cute face was hilarious!
Wait, why is this bad? We have less bacteria in our Gut, but is this good or bad? Maybe that more diverse microbiome in those tribal folk cause more bad long term health effects. Maybe our cleanliness and eating of more healthy foods caused those bacteria to disappear from our biome which in turn gives us a longer lasting life with less % of sickness/disease. Or those bacteria weren't required anymore to break down the bacteria riddled foods that weren't cooked or were dirty.
I know we're growing a new generation of bacteria sensitive folk because of our insane amounts of cleanliness, which is ridiculous (Thank Women for that one).
We don't know. "More the better" doesn't always apply.
Video starts off saying we barely know anything about the effects of this microbiome then they go ahead and assume that larger diversity is a positive thing.
I always defend my dog like she's my own child, now i know why
a few days ago i got back from being away from my dog for THREE WHOLE DAYS and we missed each other so much and then we were in the car driving home and i looked at her and she looked at me and our eyes met and became heart shaped and our souls said "i hope to never be away from you ever again" and then she licked my face
p.s. to clarify, i wasn't the one driving. that wouldn't have been very safe. eyes on the road.
I sense that whoever did the study didn't like cats. Also occasionally people rob pharmacies and steal oxytocin instead of OxyContin. It doesn't have the desired effect.
When did Vince the Shamwow guy take over hosting SciShow?
Does this work the same for cat people and cats? Because I really don't like dogs but i'm in love with cats and cats communicate primarily with eye contact.
I do love my dogs. So so much.
I feel like this guy just fucked me with information… and I liked it. Not sure why I can follow him while speeding through totally different topics but I can't listen to my GF tell a story, maybe she should use visual aids. I might be gay or I might just really like science, but either way, love the show man.
SciShow should make 20 minute documentary shorts…
What about my cat, did she not love me? She slept on me kissed me, ran to the door when i came home and when I asked "Hey, Pooder, who do you love?" She replied with I love mew! So I guess Cats do not produce Oxytosin and my beautiful baby was indifferent to my existence.
I think there is something wrong with me because my body releases Adrenaline instead of Oxytocin when I see dogs ._.
My roommate and I call this "puppy sickness". One or the other of us will be in a room with the dog and suddenly be overtaken with the urge to coo and pet and snuggle the dog. Honestly we are virtually incapacitated by puppy cuteness.
Could the whole dog thing be evolutionary? Could it be because humans intentionally bred dogs to become "man's best friend" and they hencely created an intimate neurological bond?
I just watched that banner on the top left slowly peel away the whole time
So America should start farming gut bacteria so we can all have those extra bacteria that give benefits.
QQ> why do we have fingerprints?
Other than dehydration, why is it so hard to think when it's hot?
