We’re likely less than two months away from the Pixel 10 series getting its long-awaited announcement, which means it’s high time for yet another Google leak.
The folks at Android Headlines have returned with yet another Pixel 10 specs leak following their recent round-up of Google’s upcoming base model, with a focus on the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL. As one would probably expect given the rumored lack of any kind of redesign, this year’s Pro lineup doesn’t rock the boat in any meaningful ways. For better or worse, the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL are lining up to be pretty familiar smartphones, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Let’s focus on what’s new, because frankly, it’s a pretty short list. Both phones are, as expected, shipping with Google’s new TSMC-made Tensor G5, paired with 16GB of RAM. Likewise, both phones will once again offer up to 1TB in storage, but with the Pixel 10 Pro XL apparently dropping its 128GB configuration. It’s unclear if this is an Apple-esque move to quietly introduce a price hike — cutting the base model while leaving prices unchanged — or if the larger Pro will include a bump in storage space alongside its 6.8-inch display. Personally, though, my money’s on the former.
Google is also including larger batteries in both phones this year: 4,870mAh in the regular Pro, 5,200mAh in the XL. Android Headlines points to the inclusion of a vapor chamber in the Pro as to why the standard Pixel 10 has a larger capacity battery, while also noting that a 5,200mAh cell will be the largest ever included in a Pixel. Charging speeds may also see a boost to 29W and 39W, respectively, alongside 15W wireless charging.
But otherwise, we’re likely looking at pretty familiar smartphones. The camera array, for example, is allegedly remaining unchanged, save for the inclusion of a telephoto camera that allows for more light within a single shot. Google’s no stranger to reusing camera hardware over multiple generations of course — the same 12.2MP main sensor found in the Pixel 2, for example, was utilized up through the Pixel 5. Likewise, the 6.3-inch and 6.8-inch displays found on each respective Pixel 10 Pro may sport the same peak brightness ratings as their predecessors, despite rumors about across-the-board improvements.
If Google does have a surprise up its sleeve for the Pixel 10 series, we won’t be waiting long to find out about it. We’re expecting to see these devices unveiled on August 20th, with full availability just a week later.
