Canadian gaming hardware brand ELO Gaming has unveiled a new high-tech gaming glasses solution that lets gamers enjoy their favourite hobby on a virtual full HD 180-inch screen – for a price that’s just a tiny fraction of the cost you’d expect to pay for the sort of projector or mega-sized TV solution you’d otherwise need to deliver similarly epic images.

Despite weighing in at under 80g, ELO’s Sentinel XR Glasses are fitted with Sony’s latest 0.68-inch OLED modules – the largest such modules currently available for eXtended Reality glasses products, allowing a wide 52-degree field of view. The displays deliver 1080p resolution to each eye, can support this resolution at frame rates up to 120Hz and get latency down to just 1ms for an ultra-responsive gaming feel.
The Sentinel XRs also allow users to adjust brightness across 10 levels to adapt to different game content and individual sight tolerances, as well as supporting a universal fit design and adjustable diopter settings that work across a 0 to -5.0D range.
The Sentinel XRs’ electrochromic lenses, meanwhile, can be toggled between an impressive 99.7% blackout condition while gaming and full transparency for those times where you actually need to be able to see where you’re going in the real world.

When it comes to the sort of games you can enjoy on the Sentinel XR Gaming Glasses’ virtual 180-inch screen, they’re equipped with universal connectivity via USB-C to Steam Deck, iPhone 15/16, Android devices, Mac and PC computers, Switch 2, and PlayStation/Xbox Remote Play. While they’re pitched predominantly as gaming glasses, ELO Games is keen to stress that the Sentinel XRs can also be used for general content consumption in a wide range of different environments. So they’re essentially a portable large-screen viewing experience rather than JUST a neat way of enjoying gaming at epic virtual sizes.
The Sentinel XR Gaming Glasses are also just one part of a whole new gaming hardware eco system from ELO Gaming that also includes precision controller and portable computing hub accessories capable of transforming the Sentinel XR glasses into a fully independent system.
The Vagabond V2 mobile controller is claimed to deliver console-grade gaming performance for portable devices. It features ultra-precise Hall Effect joysticks reckoned to eliminate drift issues; silent mechanical buttons that shouldn’t make a noise no matter how aggressively you’re pounding them; passthrough charging so you can maintain power even during extended play sessions; customizable back buttons for personalized control mapping; and layout options that include Xbox and PlayStation configurations.

The Vagabond V2 can be fitted with an optional dongle, too, that adds both Bluetooth connectivity and external battery power.
The OmniBase portable computing hub component of ELO Gaming’s new product eco system runs on Android OS, and includes 128GB of internal storage you can expand if needed using Micro-SD cards. Other core features of the OmniBase include integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for streaming and device pairing; multi-platform support for cloud gaming platforms, streaming services and retro gaming emulators; independent operation so you don’t need to have it connected to a phone or computer for it to work; integrated navigation controls for anchoring and adjusting virtual screen size and positioning; and even portable charging capability, with enough battery capacity to charge mobile devices as many as three times.
You can also connect two pairs of Sentinel XR Gaming Glasses to the OmniBase to enable co-op gaming on the go.
Having cruised past initial Kickstarter targets, the Sentinel XR Gaming Glasses, Vagabond V2 controller and OmniBase portable computing hub are available for pre-order now through ELO’s website, priced at $429, $89 and $199 respectively.
