I dont see anyone else mentioning this in the comments but I find it interesting that the scene where Bajie saw the ladies bathing and how similar it was to another scene in another Chinese mythology called Niulang(牛郎）and zhinu(织女）literally meaning weaver girl (she was a daughter of the jade emperor but went down to the mortal world to play in secret) where Niulang chanced upon her and her sisters bathing as he fell In love with her at first sight.
