Of all the things that could’ve been wrong with this movie, they’re butt hurt about something that I believe isn’t an issue. I feel the exact same way. Also, if I'm being honest, Mario's voicing given by Martinet would probably get annoying for an entire feature film. At least for me.
I honestly feel bad for Chris Pratt. I can tell he's going for a American Brooklyn accent for Mario at the very end of the teaser but people are outraged because of how he sounded. Chris deserves better
Being a diehard fan for decades now and growing up with the Super Show. and the other cartoons, I like this voice aside from it reminding me of those shows. This voice seems to fit this more detailed, yet still animated style of Mario, and I can believably think that this voice can come out of this character. Thats the main goal at the end of the day, right? Pratt is obviously a very talented actor, I think he will do a good job and serve justice for the character.

It’s really not as bad a fit as people say.
His voice is higher pitched, and goes “up and down”, like Game Mario, not as high as Martinett, because his is falsetto, but it’s noticeable, and a better fit for a more real Mario. He also has the Brooklyn accent, and on top of all that, if we can love Captain Lou and Danny Wells as the Brothers, (which are fantastic btw) we’ll get along with this Mario just fine after a while.
I’m one of those people that just want to watch the movie and have a good time. This discourse is really tiring…

Honestly I like Chris Pratt's Brooklyn accent of Mario in the Mario movie
Food for thought: if Charles Martinet had voiced Mario for the movie, he would also have to be the voice of Luigi. Seems like a bit much to heap on a 67 year old man to pull double duty as the protagonist and deuteragonist of a full length movie and its subsequent sequels. I think they made the most pragmatic decision they could, besides a movie is a very different way of telling a story than a video game, with no gameplay to fall back on, of course it has to be handled differently.
I think a lot of Mario/Nintendo fans take such an issue because Mario has remain unchanged for almost 30 years now, they're used to the plucky corporate mascot Mario, so it's going to be jarring for them to hear leading man of a movie Mario.
Finally! I feel like such a weirdo for saying that I don’t mind Chris’ take on Mario, though yes I’m used to Charles’ voice, but people have to remember that this is a movie, a movie separate from the games though probably still has the same premise.
I absolutely love Charles so much and people also need to understand that he’s completely fine with this, he probably got asked to do Mario for the movie maybe not but he is completely fine with it and he’s exited for it and for people to see it, this video makes me happy because it’s kind of sad to see so much hate on this movie.
Also off topic to the voice I see people hate on designs and animation, and that makes me sad and mad for the animators, because I saw a post on how there was squishing and stretching on Mario when he first met toad and they were hating on it saying it looked weird and they didn’t like it ( – which I completely valid people have their own opinions ) but I feel like this isn’t fair for the animators and old animations, where they used that to capture fast movement and moving in general.
I am still a little sceptical but that doesn’t mean I’m not going see it, and love it, because I love the animation for it already and this doesn’t invalidate anybody’s opinion on not liking it or the voice of Mario. People have their own opinions like I stated before and that’s completely fine.
All I’m saying is a good luck to the team working on the movie, and voice actors who are probably excited for reaction to the whole movie and I hope they had fun with it ❤️

For me I dunno, not to be negative but once again it shows how much the dedicated voice actors with alot of talent are shunted for Hollywood actors that don't really seem to do the role justice, but the company sees a big name and are happy that it'll naturally promote the film, it's a common thing when bringing it to the cinema from any other media, and it's kinda crappy tbf.
the only thing im unsure is mario voice, but like, it was 3 seconds… even people that didnt like this but loved the rest should love this teaser. People need to start liking stuff that arent perfect… because this was a very small sample.

It doesn’t matter if a character sounds different than it’s original VA, all that matters is the story and the plot.
Heck, even I was skeptical when that Live-Action Sonic came out. Everyone was raising their pitchforks already due to Sonic’s design. People need to stop assuming and just deal with it.
Also, it may have some backstory to the "Origin Story" of Mario. Who knows?
I wasn't bothered by it either since as a DK fan, Donkey Kong's the only reason I'm seeing the movie.
Now, I'm glad I grew up with Lou Albano and Walker Boone in the cartoons, screw the Mario games' fanbase Lmao.
I don't hate the guy per say, but his voice acting seems really restrained, and/ or lifeless, which is kinda weird considering this isn't his first Rodeo with Voice Acting in an Animated feature. I'm not saying it should be Charles Martinet, but Chris Pratt might not even be the best choice for the movie either. I associate the Chris Pratt situation as ruining a pizza with Pineapple and ham. A minority might like pineapple and ham, but the Majority thinks it could be better than just pineapple and ham, ya know?
