Nobody wants those intermission track because they are boring and stupid
And now the game is as dead as Chunky Kong! It’s been a fun 20 hours, World! Time to go back to 8, Wii and Double Dash while pretending this game never happened. Glad my old consoles still work like new!
I hope there will be new options to play the tracks as the player wishes. The most important one for me is letting the player choose his own customised "Knockout Tour", by choosing himself the 6 adjacent routes. But of course, letting the player the possibility to play in a classical way with 3 laps in a course is important too.
Most of the cool things in this trailer is from the tracks. What they're not telling you is that when you actually play the game, most of it is a straight line simulator where you drive between tracks. No fancy tricks, no drifting, just straaaaaaight ahead with the occasional boost pad and if you're lucky a slight curve.
Grand Prix, first track is regular, every track after that you spend a while driving straght to reach the next track where you do one lap and it's over. Multiplayer is even worse, almost always intermissions. Used to be that random was always a regular track which is why if you watch streamers starting you'll notice at game release people picked tracks and now almost everyone in the rooms picks random just to avoid the intermissions. Patch today however changed it so you have high risk of getting straight line driving from random as well for some mysterious reason…
As of writing this, there's no way to opt out of intermissions and drive the tracks only (outside of single player Time Trials) unless you run a private room in which I've heard that you can turn them off. However, unless you're a famous live streamer, good luck filling it.

Congratulations on completely killing your first new Mario Kart game in over 11 years, Nintendo. Mario Kart World is officially straight line simulator with the change they just made to online, which essentially forces intermission tracks onto the player. If you thought Nintendo couldn’t be anymore malicious towards their own player base, then you’re in for a shock.
