Met the guy during a work event and he was the most arrogant and annoying person I've ever met.. No one believed what he was saying and he was really misogynistic by making stupid comments about coworkers. The guy can't read a room at all and he has a much lighter voice irl. He was also making a lot of racist jokes.

Had he just been a little cooler when first talking about that initiative (which i didn't even know about) none of this would have happened.
He could have been more laid back, for example: "Eh, as an indie game dev this could potentially throw kinks into how little guys like me make games, I'm not sure if I can support this initiative but I see where Ross is coming from because it does suck when a game you love gets deleted."

The WoW thing he is right about. In vanilla wow days if you did a bad pull or Leeroy Jenkins or ninja looted in a raid you'd get kicked from the guild and blacklisted. To avoid this, as the puller you'd do a ready check. They didn't do one, did a bad pull, and the only option was to retreat as death means you'll spend the next 4-6 weeks creating a new character. He tried to slow down the mobs with Blizzard and then hauled assets out of there. In wow terms he did nothing wrong and shouldn't have to apologize for their stupidity and arrogance.
The worked at Blizzard thing is an issue with perception. Jill Biden has a PHD. Therefore she is a doctor. She isn't a medical doctor, but she has a doctorate. One can be a game developer without ever creating any code. Artists, sound designers, mappers, etc are all game developers that don't usually touch any code. It's just that when someone hears game developer they assume programmer… just like someone would assume medical doctor if you said you were a doctor.
The code thing is a weird take. If you look at other developers of AAA, the code is very similar. Don't believe me? Take a look at the source code for Doom 1 and Quake 1. John Carmack coded like that a lot and most of modern gaming still uses his graphical innovations today.
