I know im a bit late to the party, but i found that if you go to the yah rin shrine (by lurelin) there is always one on the one of the two trees by the shrine. Just sleep till night, travel to the shrine, and collect it
Just go to lurelin village, they are filled with them and there are no monsters
I hope that one day i will collect 999 beetles of all kind then release them all in front of beedle

Just a heads up there are 7 in the three clumps of trees around the great fairy fountain near tarrey town, and barely any enemies. Only 3 stal lizalfos which you can avoid. Really easy to get to from the shrine if you just want a few more. And you will be exactly where you need to be afterwards to upgrade the armour.
