Why do you think people had such hate for this game? I rented it and enjoyed it, though to be honest, I found it so violent and gory, I just got queasy! But for some reason, dead space I can play without wimping out! lol! In any case I love your reviews.
Despite cancel cuture, I really enjoyed the Callisto Protocol. It definitely had issues but it was a fun time.
Idk this game just wasn't good the dodge system is weird an doesn't work for groups of enemies. The story is literally dead space 1. The only difference is secret society instead of secret religion. Enemy variety is barely there. You literally fight 1 mini boss 4 times an back to back to back at the end of the game. Even the end boss you see once before an fight him again. The end boss doesn't make sense so impervious to bullets as a humanoid has to be hit with melee. Then he evolves all of a sudden an bullets hurt him when he is stronger. Healing animation takes way too long an becomes frustrating that you basically have to perfect situations. Even the whole jail fight esthetic they are going for is a little silly. Like your beating super strong super mutants to death with a baton. Weapon variety is very boring compared to dead space. An lastly its simple not scary after awhile with the same repetitive style of jump scare over an over.
Just play the dead space remake an you will see how superior it is compared to this game. Better weapon variety, more enemy diversity, a Cooler way to kill enemies through dismemberment, and much much scarier creates a real tension that you feel till the game is over.
For the sequel they just need to put less cutscenes and more gameplay, less Melee combat that takes a lot of the horror by making the enemies flying XD
NGL this game is aggressively "Generic" but not terrible.
This is a different take on the game than other reviews I've watched, always good to see different perspectives. Sounds like if you're a story person, this game is better than the reviewers focused more on gameplay are saying. The big complaint I've heard about this one is that the tension was that the tension and any semblance of a threat from the monsters was gone once you figure out the dodge mechanic. Other reviews I listened to thought it was too easy, I don't remember if there are difficulty settings for this one or not.

Played about an hour, than quit. The story was interesting, but the ganeplay was boring. Should have been made into a movie instead. Dead Space being released close to this Callisto was also bad timing.
I completely agree with this review. I ended up liking the game more as time went on. I am excited for the story DLC and new modes to come.
