The nearest star is 4.5 light yrears away so light takes 4.5 years to get hear. If a civilization wear to emerge today we would not know about it for how long? Thats right 4.5 years. Given the size and scope of the universe The universe could be teaming with life and we would not know about it for thousands to millions or even billions of years, that how long it would take the light or radio waves to reach us. Why haven't we been visited visited? Well that's easy to. Given the vastness of the universe its like finding a needle in thousands of hey stakes. Even if you take into consideration the fact that we have been sending out radio waves for a few hundred years that radio bubble is so small because of the amount of space it is still infinitesimally small. I will tell what I think will happen. Eventually, maybe a thousand years from now or more, we will start to see signs of life in the universe. Those signs of life will begin to grow exponentially from that day forward at 1 to every 100 years. I just wish I could be around to see it.
