I know people who don’t give a shit about video games or nintendo, but are HYPE for this. Nintendo’s IPs really are the “Disney of video games.” (and not shitty modern disney, at that)
A little nervous, but i still have hopes for the mario movie. People act like the movie is gonna be a train wreck and it sill flopped real badly, but i doubt all of it, i think the mario movie is gonna be a big succeed no matter what anyone says. Mario and the franhcise named after him deserves alot of justice than being a butt to the sonic fans and other nintendo fanbases on the internet.

I think we can all agree that Mr. Miyamoto had the biggest brass balls when he announced the Mario Movie cast last September.
Regardless, I have high hopes for the film becoming the success Nintendo is making it out to be!
The more I think about this project, the More I wished Dreamworks got their hands on it, because they do have good taste with making adaptations from different types of properties (Ex. Shrek, How to train your Dragon, The Bad Guys, Prince of Egypt, Hell even The Boss Baby, etc.), and since I know they are owned by Universal as well as Illumination, it would’ve made the Mario Movie a lot more trustworthy for it to be good.
P.S. also why don’t you trust SPA? I know they have made bad films but HAVE YOU SEEN SPIDER-VERSE OR MITCHELLS?!

I actually like most of Illumination's movies that I've seen. They aren't the greatest subversive masterpieces of all time but they are average at worst. I loved all three Despicable Me films and both The Lorax and The Grinch. I even enjoyed the first Minions film, outside the Minions themselves. I haven't seen the newest one however. I do think Illumination tends to add cliche elements in their movies, but I never felt like those elements ruined the movies for me. I'm actually more concerned Nintendo will err too hard on the safe side due to how bad the live action movie with full creative freedom was. I really hope this movie ends up leaving the film universe open for sequels that touch on the not-so-often-acknowledged areas of the Marioverse, in my case the RPGs in particular. Especially the ones from the 2000s.
