Mythology is stories passed on verbally through generations. There is no canon "visual" representation of them, so you can't really go much wrong here. That being said, GoW is the BEST that Norse mythology has EVER been represented on any media, full stop. Obviously, you have to take some freedoms if you are gonna make a video game, else it would all be just a film. Kratos comes from Greece and that's where the story had to be adjusted for him and Loki to fit in.

that he worked on Assassin's Creed took me back a little, because that game was awful, that particular AC game does not stand up well to any God Of War game, even the first one when it comes to storytelling. i kinda get the language criticism but the attention to detail the devs have on everything else is amazing, something was always going to fall through, but for me it all comes back to the fact they aren't trying to make an accurate depiction of Norse mythology, they are using it as inspiration to tell stories of they're own making, i never once have gone into a game and thought 'im here for the historical accuracy' hahaha.
