Late to the party but Theres a little detail that has come unsung: Shock absorbers
– Look at Mario's car shock absorbers, they reflect body movement from the car. Short words; karts are no longer just pre-rendered fixed models but they react to g-forces, throttle, braking, turning… Rosalina's ski bike also has shock absorbers! Karts animations are the star. However, they come quite late to the party, bc 2015 racing games already had that.
– Main inspiration for this Mario Kart seems to be F1 race stars. Long tracks, a lot of racers, working pit lane. Objects will be rarer but they will have a real impact in the car, making it slower, until you go to pit lane.
– That strange glowing object seems to be a key for a shortcut, mechanic taken from F1 race stars. Racers go towards this glowing key, but only one can have it, and it opens a path to a shortcut only open for that person.

Not too be rude, and I’m not sure if I’m the only one, but I really dislike this new art style, I don’t know why but when you look at Mario kart 8, why are they making such a baby looking art style? They look chubby and short and I really don’t like it. I also notice this with their voices. It started in wonder and in jamboree some of peach and most of daisies voice sound so babyish, I hope they don’t continue it because it’s such a downgrade from 8! But I’ll stay positive
