I enjoy this version Much more than the original. Get the BDG expansion to make it have a lot of flavor and well it’s a better game with the expansion. Which gives you five different scenarios to add. All in all it’s a great game
Is there any version of Bang for 2 players
Simplified variant for my students (ages 10-13): no character cards, no renegades, arrows do nothing and players only roll dice once and exclude two dice.
awesome review I hope to have a sick game collection like that!!
These seems like a great and pretty simple game. I feel like it’d be a good one to have around to play with newer board gamers. Thanks for explaining!
The game looks still amazing, but the arrow chips look so cheap in contrast to the amazing quality of the rest :/
I find it is often the case the game ends too quickly. It is a bit of a let down after going through all that set up, giving character roles, reading to everyone what they do, then give a secret role card… And boom, game is over before you have the chance to roll the dice twice.
Your example, If i had bill and bob next to me i could shoot bill or bob. If next to them was Susan and Anthony…. Susan …B..B….Anthony. heh.
It's good but not flawless. The complexity rating may be less than 1.5 on BGG but it's not as simple or intuitive as it seems. I tried a simplified version of Bang (no character cards, no renegades, 6 health points to all characters) with my students (ages 13-15) and they didn't quite get it.
mmm… Is it possible to combine dice with Bang the card game? I bought the one without dice. (I did notice they sell the dice in store separately). I understand the arrows may not work with the base game if you just buy the dice.
For those who have played, do you think you could play this game on the road? I have been looking for great games that can be played in the car. (I am a youth minister and have been trying to find games that teens can play on our many road trips. So far Coup has been a huge hit.
Great review.
I tried to play with 3 people as the first time playing. Didn't like it as it ended too fast and there was little skill involved, no deduction either. I will try again with more people.
Also didn't get the rules correct but I don't think this would have mattered.
Great review! Thank you,, Tom!
Hi Tom, I had already King of tokyo and love letter and im in love with them, do you recommend me Bang the dice game ¿ or wich one, i like to buy ticket to ride too,im new at this HELP
Anyone ever heard of Legends of the Three Kingdoms?
I realsie this review is very old but as this is the channel I go for reviews and advices i hope someone will spot my question.
Me and my friends, we are what you might call casual board gamers. We like playing party games and we are in deduction games. We like one night werewolf, The Resistance and Coup. Now we are looking into more dice involving games so we stopped on King of tokyo. But now that I see Bang the dice game it would seem there is a bit deduction here, more room for betrayal and a lot of fun.
So in short my question is: what would you guys recomend to us. Bang the dice game or King of Tokyo?(I know both are good, but which one should we get first?)
Also maybe it's valuable information that we are a small group. We usualy play 4-5 people. Rarely go over 8. If any of the game scales better with small groups it would be better. (It will be a nice option to be a good game for 4 people and 8 equally)
Thanks in advance. 🙂
Actually, the detective work comes into play when you have All of the outlaws dead, but there are still Renegades out there. The Renegade needs to be the VERY LAST person alive when the Sheriff dies, so he's going to be impersonating a Deputy until he's alone with the Sheriff. Especially interesting when there are still 5 players left alive, yet with all the Outlaws killed; the sheriff, 2 Deputies, and 2 Renegades. You'll have 4 people claiming to be a Deputy.
One problem with this game is that it can end quickly : last time with seven players, we played barely one round : an Outlaw rolled four Bang! on the Sheriff and the game was over : no barrel defense, no horse, nothing to protect yourself with…..<sigh>
How strong is the wild west theme in this game?
This game seems like a downgrade to Bang! I love long games with the original card game. I'm sorry but I am really sick of people wanting more simple games. This game lacks the depth that the original brings. I want to be able to build up my playing field with barrels, guns, and other items. Rolling dice gets so boring.
Thank you so much again for all your board game reviews! Great stuff!!!
This game reminds me of another game Inn Fighting Dice Game.
After reading the rules and play a play-test, I come up with a bit change in objectives/winning condition for the roles in 4-8 players game, which is The Renegades only have to eliminate all the outlaws first and then eliminate the Sheriff for the win, they don’t have to be the last player survive in order to win. I think it make the game more balance for all the roles.
To summary (clear and simple):
– The Sheriff and Deputies win when all the outlaws and renegades are eliminated.
– The Outlaws win when the Sheriff is eliminated.
– The Renegades have to eliminate all the outlaws first and then eliminate the Sheriff in order to win.
actually, the rules state that the renegade only wins if everyone else is killed. this is quite the fun game though.
I believe winchester fits better into wild wild west theme, than a shotgun 🙂
Damn! Was just beta testing a very similiar game. even down to the iconagraphy on the dice. Back to the drawing board….
I added this to a coolstuffinc order several months ago, just to edge it over $100 to get the free shipping – glad it turned out to be a cool game!
oh bang, it's not a bad series per se… but resistance is similar and superior to Bang, and now King of Tokyo sounds similar but superior to dice bang. sorry bang… you just can't seem to catch a break.
Leave it open?.. Blasphemy!!!
Would this make your new Top 100 Games list you think?
The 3-player variant is the Deputy, Outlaw & Renegade (w/ no hidden roles)
fyi, the thumbnail for this video currently is for a different game..
Tom, great review, but one rules mistake.
The Renegade must be the last player alive in the game (so he/she must kill all outlaws/deputies/other renegade, then kill the sheriff).
I just bought it 1 week ago. I have not had a chance to play it yet. Thanks for the review Tom. Now I am pleased I spent the money for it.
I bought this game a week or so ago as a filler game. I did a pickup game with 3 non-gamers at work and they loved it. It took about 2 minutes to explain the rules and played in about 12 minutes. These guys really got into it!
I don't know if it would replace BANG! in my core group when we are looking for that full experience. This will be how I introduce BANG! to new players in the future though.
Thanks for the review Tom. This game looks great, I think it would fit perfectly with my game group.
Thanks for this one! Now I'm definitely going to get this game!
Looks beater than orginal card version.
Title in this review's thumbnail remained there from previous game ("Leelawadee") … just saying
