The rune lore in this game one of the most interesting aspects of suikoden universe. Spoilet alert:
In suikoden 2 Riou and Jowy get the rune of beginning which spilt into sheild rune and sword rune. Rune of beginning has the ability to "judge war." It one of the most tragic rune imo as it will attach to best friend and throw them in these intertwined circle or war. While you think the mc, Riou is correct, not until you see Jowy also correct. Also they will bound to collide. In all suikoden 2 has the best written story of any jrpg game.
I found myself mostly gambling in the original… I forget how the game ends but I remember the gambling.

Sad to see they didnt do anything to the old characted sprites. Very pixelated compared to everything else they made. Not worth the money right now IMO. INCREDIBLE series though. This was my childhood.

Of all the JRPG games I've ever played, even ones like Final Fantasy, I can't deny that this game is the best JRPG game of all time. With an Old School JRPG feel that even now no one can match its mechanics. The story is truly a masterpiece, about friendship, love, and revenge, all in one. I really got goosebumps during certain events. No insults, no compromises. Suikoden remains the first to fill my childhood, and will never be replaced.

I know these games are supposed to be excellent but I really can’t stand how wildly inconsistent the art and UI is. Pixel art for the characters, standard art for the text, different resolutions for textures, etc.

All ibget is that it is groosome (I am Greek don't know how you write that)… Is it engaging? Interesting? Captivating? Does the characters make you feel anything? Are the plot Interesting? Etc etc…
This game has a ton of side quests. Fishing, cooking, recruit up to 108 chars? Man its been awhile but definitely one of my fav ps1 games at the time, glad its making its way to ps5
Did they fix Clive's quest? I don't want to speedrun the whole game goe that crap

I really do wish there was a way to play with the original character portraits in Suikoden 1. Also, why is autosave not a thing at all? 😭
almost all wars in suikoden 2 are heavily scripted to lose. not sure if they remove that problem in remaster edition.

I’ve played modern RPGs, but Suikoden 2 is still the best of all time for me. I probably played it around 10 times (or more) when I was younger. I’m glad it got remastered but I wish it had come out years earlier since I have no time to play games now as a working adult. 😢
