i think this game is a lot of fun to play when it works. i believe it could make a great platform for at least a sequel, provided they fix the bugs and the janky way sonic moves. i also think the cyberspace levels needed more love and attention. you should not have to boost everywhere just to pick up and maintain speed, and the game heavily relies on it to the point where actions like jumping and rolling massively slow you down. the camera like you said is not great and keeps ripping away to enemies and throwing you off. that and general bugs like pop in being very prevalent on all platforms, and sometimes combos dont want to input. however one thing that really impressed me with this game was how hype the final boss battles are for each island. without spoiling the batlles themselves the supermassive bosses are really fun to fight, and the soundtrack is amazing and brings it all together. i dont remember who all does like the percussion, guitars and song arrangement but what wowed me was the singer from sleeping with the sirens doing the vocals, and that the boss songs are real metal and fast pace. lots of fun to listen to. at the very least this game breathed new life into the series and showed that we want more out of it, i think they just need to fine tune this game and it could have gone a couple extra months before release for extra polish
Tony hawks American wasteland was a better frontier than this
At least the game soundtrack is great tho
the skill tree system is fun to me i like all the new moves added ingame, but camera glitches are annoying af
I feel like a lot of your issues with the game are addressed when you put more time into it, mainly in regards to "feeling like Sonic" and the map design, but I suppose if you weren't interested at all after 2 hours there's no point anyways. Most people seem to agree that this game has one of the best soundtracks out of any Sonic game, and the open zone music isn't the same throughout as it's dynamic in regards to location or time of day, but I can get not liking the tone. The game definitely isn't goofy but for a lot of people the darker more somber tone is seen as a return to form for the franchise, and I for one hope it continues on this route. I definitely agree that having multiple playable characters and more fantastical map themes are pretty big misses though, and the lack of diversity in Cyber-space themes is annoying too. Those are all thing I think should and would be addressed should they make a follow-up, though. The game is by no means perfect, and it has its fair share of flaw, but in my opinion, if they address the ones I mentioned above I could see it being pretty close to it.
none of what i said in the video means any hate or shade at all (i'll obviously always love and support the sonic franchise, just personally gotta pass on this one) , but it's important to bring up criticism so the developers can take note for the next generation of gaming!
Im still gonna try to keep up with the game and watch others play or watch a cutscene movie to not miss out on the story!! just realized for myself im absolutely not missing out on anything if the gameplay itself just isn't enjoyable for me. if you're enjoying the game and like the world building and combat style, then im glad you found the right game for you!(。^▽^)
Your personal opinion sucks, just my opinion.
Honestly sounds totally valid. I did hear mixed reviews in general tbh, sad that you were looking forward to it so much only to get disappointed :/ Hopefully the next Game can build upon this and improve in many ways, if they want to keep the "Open-Zone" Gameplay going
