can we build 9 slides panels using vector ?
how do you use svgs as animation like you would with a group of pngs
Is this proper support for rendering of SVGs, or is it just another case of rasterizing an SVG into a plain old image asset and then rendering that in-game? I've been looking for proper SVG rendering packages for a whole week now, and I swear to god if this is that same thing as all the other packages I've seen over the past week I'm going to throw this computer into the stratosphere.
does it support css styling? cause I've tested it and It didn't…
Is it possible to access the paths from code?
Anyone know if there is a way to retain your layers? Like the .psd import tool.
To install it on Unity 2020 and higher:
1- Enable preview packages (in advanced options).
2- Hit the "+" icon and choose to add from git URL.
3- Paste this: com.unity.vectorgraphics
how to use svgs with multiple sprites inside? is there an option to slice them like in bitmap sprites?
How should I handle high draw count here?
My Camera renders it in pixelated form, please help.
is a support for canvas is planned at any point?
So tell me then, why hasn't the ability to use actual SVG in Unity been added? It would solve so many problems, including fuzzy text and performance issues.
You would just need an extra layer over the 3D scene. What's so hard to understand about that? But no, Unity has to keep their perfect 3D with no adjustment to fit creators' needs.
its not finding Vector Graphics in the asset store or package manager and i on 2019.4.15f1
EDIT: i was needed just to do show preview packages and it fixed
does this still reliable in Unity 2019 and up?
Super helpful, thanks 😀
I downloaded 2018 versions, 2019, 2020 versions. None of them, even the ones with Package Management with Vector Graphics… does not support a vector graphic. Iv'e tried AI vectors 1.0, 1.1. Nothing is supported in Vector Graphics. It's not even part of anything new in 2020. What's up?
0:55 Why do I get this? "nullreferenceexception: object reference not set to an instance of an object" when all I am doing is Window->packet manager?
Even with preview packages turned on, not seeing this available in Unity 2020.1
How do you slice a vector sprite sheet and how can you add vector sprites to arrays and replace old bitmap sprites with new vector sprites in the sprite renderer pls
PNG vs SVG performance??
And multiple SVG not support 🙁
Can't handle large SVG files (over 65000 vertices)
the Vector Graphics package is missing from all packages (using the currently latest version of Unity).
Never mind… it was a preview package.
Anyone with this problem: don't forget to check if "Show preview packages" are enabled under Advanced at the top.
Bro is this available for version 2019.2.3f1 ?
great tutorial, thank very much for uploading – I had to put on Preview Packages to see the Vector Graphics option! SVG importing is a massive feature for Unity I think!
cheers!
Sykoo?
"Vector Graphics" in not an available option in Unity 2019.2.2f1 package manager — anyone know how to add it?
Only works on small simple drawings.
Could you make SVG Sprite Sheets for animation? I don't think there's a native solution if it's making geometry from the curves.
Here is it?
i love unity
why exists of dislikes in this video ?
I cant seem to import anything without it going over the 64k vertices limit, even on basic small characters that are nothing as advanced as that tiger image as full quality generates over 50k vertices.
What can i do to reduce this number without losing quality?
All of a sudden, this won't work. Any new SVG files I import show up as generic file icons and won't drag into the scene.
Vector that are imported should be for rigging… It is useless if you cant do anything with the still image.
so, not able to use them in UI canvas… actually is the main issue because we want to scale stuff responsibly, right?
As I understand – it is still not complete and requires triangulation. Therefore it is poorly supported and there's no reason to change workflow to SVG, exept of the size
hey, thanks for this video! i'm new to unity – so sorry if what i'm going to ask next is stupid 🙂
Can we slice SVG's the way we could slice raster graphics?
also
Can we use SVG's to generate tile palettes?
thanks
I've imported SVG sprite after installing the Vector Graphics package but I'm not able to slice it to use it in the tile palette, the slice button is disabled. Can it be done? If so, how?
I'm using 2018.1, but I see the SVG importer, so can I still use it with this version?
At long last!
This is so perfect for GUI
😀
"not supported by unity sprite canvases"
;(
Hi
How can one change the color of the imported SVG dynamically in UNITY? thanks
@Sykoo are the SVG's not affected by color in the Sprite Renderer?
Unity never hearts their comments….
Wow. I had given up hope that we would have native SVG support!!
Hope canvas support will come soon. Canvas background and widget can get quite large. Svg would be VERY useful there.
Is there an ETA on when UI/Canvas support for SVG will be added?
Also I really want to be able to use SVG art as decals with blending modes/materials on 3d meshes that conform to the mesh. That would be amazing and would allow for a great workflow to have an environment come to life without needing to have custom uvs all over the place.
Looking forward to when they can be used in canvas ui
