Great advice! Thank you so much!!!
what if my stories are too small, too bite sized to tell what I go for
Thanks to you I was able to make sense out of the world I had been building for like, 5 years or more. I had this epiphany moment at one point when I managed to lay out the plot of one of my stories and the arcs of the characters, and fitting in all of my worldbuilding ideas into it to flesh it out and see it grow was like "Oh yeah, it's all coming together now."
Oooh wee, I definitely don’t have a single project I’ve been adding to for over a decade since I was 11 and certainly wasn’t therefore demolished by this very practical and helpful advice 😂
i started actually working on my story properly recently! the story originated from characters i made back when i was 12.
they stayed pretty close to their original designs and personalities for years and it was really hard to get over that first hurdle of letting go of my attachment to those early versions of the characters and changing them to make them and the story more interesting
it was definitely worth it tho because after i got over that part i’ve been able to actually focus on my story instead of just having these characters that i was afraid to take risks with
Over the years, I never exactly threw away anything I made.
I write everything in Google Drive, so if something felt too bland or stupid or repetitive, I would tweak it, look at what people liked and expected from certain characters, scenarios and such.
I thought to separate them in small bits and pieces, similar to Marvel's movies of origin stories and even crossovers.
Flaws were a big part I couldn't get past for a long time. And the world building aspect is meant to be simple and complex at the same time. I don't want to say I've been ignoring these tips, but some, I think, don't need to always be so derogatory.
You've created an awesome idea! Take it! Shape it! Improve it! Make it better!
Keep learning and looking at these videos and the world around you! At how people react to certain things and people! Take inspiration from ANYTHING!
For me, I kinda have the opposite problem, in that I'm focused more on the characters and relationships than the worldbuilding. Granted, it's set in a world that's very much our own, except a bit more matriarchal to emphasise the theme of fighting sexism against boys, so I guess I don't have to worry as much about worldbuilding as, say, a fantasy or sci-fi series. With that said, would you have any advice as how to overcome this problem.
omg i had this problem with my story for a couple years now, i really could never find a good story or designs for my characters but after a lot of thinking about my characters and what i wanna do with them i am happy to announce that my story is currently in development
This is what I hate:
[Cliche backstory, overused] BUT I also have this dog in the story. NOW they're gonna love the story
one of my bigger idea is making a reboot of on of my favorite shows. it already has a bucnh of shows, reboots, and comics, so i have a lot of inspiration to work with. i might try to work with the company who owns the franchise or make an individual comic/animated series one day. i am also working on a couple of original projects
I have a film series that is constantly entering new characters, while keeping an original 6. It's got huge lore.
4:08 is "an Abundance world is possible" something to say?
Mmmmyes, you always feel so in love with your comic when you're writing but the second you sit down to draw it, you hate yourself
Coming into this video I was afraid that I had this problem but luckily I didn't.
(I apologize if it looks like I'm bragging)
I have some advice if your struggling with this (PS this is from personal experience so this doesn't work for everyone)
I like to put character's personality into simple words first, example: kind, rude, sarcastic, then I would like to break it down into smaller categories
I see so many comments saying they keep on building up on work, so take the time to ask yourself, will this affect the story/character/setting? I know it may be hard to throw ideas into the trash, but you can put those ideas in other stories/comics your working on or maybe you can show them in a sequel.
Put the setting somewhere simple, a city, a forest, and a cave then you can turn it a bit more complex like a high tech city a haunted forest, and a cave with rare diamonds but don't make it too complex keep it simple so it's easy to imagine in your head or show your friend/followers opinions on it and ask if they can imagine the setting
Idk if these advice are good or not
please let me know
This man is more helpful than most art tutorials i’ve seen, he needs more subscribers.
If you wanna do something big that needs a lot of execution, I find making much smaller small stories and forcing myself to complete and reflect on them helps a lot

Me just here, a person who can never come up with ideas-
Am i the only writer that is not a cartoon or comic maker but always come here to get advice?
I've always liked complex stories, but I don't know where to start before. Now, watching your videos actually improved myself and have become more determined to finish my story, I've actually started a few chapters, I have also planned out the whole plot and its world.
But, I got trouble in maintaining the plot and I need help or advice. I want my chapters to not feel like a filler or just made up, I want to make it very believable and realistic, I need advice on how to do so.
You're giving me an artsistential crisis.
Do you REALLY love the lamp, Brick?
I love lamp!!
